Molex Director in Lisle, IL:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Well respected by global customers and competitors in many industries needing electrical and electronic interconnects. Great opportuntiy to work with people around the globe including suppliers, customers and fellow Molex employees. The benefits package is among the best in any industry (probably excluding investment banking!) that includes profit sharing, 401K match (only about 1%), stock options, bonus and employee stock purchase plan as well as medical, perscription and dental for monthly amounts less than what other employers charge. Great team atmosphere. In house exercise facility with quality equipment that ranks better than most workout facilites available at no chager to employees.

Cons

Opportunites for promotions are not posted. It appears that some employees are picked for promotions and continue getting promotions regarless of sucess or any solid accomplishmets in the previous positions. The current management is intent on watching competitive financial benchmarks and driving Molex costs down to similar levels. Often these benchmarks are from companies larger than Molex or companies that are in different markets. Molex has a stated goal to grow twice as fast as the industry but managment appears to fail to realize that this growth goal will take more people and investments than competition, putting the the goal of meeting competitive benchmarks in conflict with the growth goal of twice the industry average.

Advice to Senior Management

Think about what made Molex succesful and what provided the growth to get Molex to a $3 billion company. Molex growth was built on job security, hard work that was well rewarded, decision making that was pushed down to the appropriate level and respect for the employee.

Advice to Senior Management

You must accelerate development, and improve organization. Decision makeing from the technical level to to higher management seems to move at a snails pace. We loose because we cannot act in time.
