    Pros

learning about corporate life in healthcare, benefits, good co-workers, has a gym, nicely located, helping people get medical services

    Cons

long hours and little communication between departments, some not-so knowledgeable upper management. Mirco-management, working half day on holidays or not getting holidays such as presidents day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communication between departments, upper management and case management. Increase morale to all staff. Listen to concerns across the company.

    Pros

If you are fresh out of college this is the place for you. Spend 1-3years here and leave quickly. Run like the wind

    Cons

Management is chosen by friends and relatives. Nepotism is pivotal here. This is the place of the hypocrites. Management will hire friends to do nothing but collect a paycheck and harass and bully subordinates. Management is less qualified than subordinates. Many subordinates are well educated. There is zero room for upward mobility here. Some departments are good and want to break silohs. Most don't like change and management does not like to accountability for projects and will throw other departments under the bus, as well as subordinates. Bullying is common here, as well eve to your last day on the job. If you people in management that can barely speak a word of English. English is the officially language spoken amongst colleagues here. So how are these folks hired. Benefits are not great. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get degrees and then maybe we'll take you seriously. Stop hiring your family and friend, and then maybe we'll take you seriously.

    Pros

The company does value its employees and wants to try to reward good performances by the people doing the work

    Cons

There is a gap in communication within the company as the messages that come from senior management do not always get put into action by lower-level management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get everyone on the same page so that all are treated fairly

I have been working at Molina Healthcare

    Pros

Molina offers full benefits, 401-k and stock options. There's also an onsite fitness center and cafeteria. Molina encourages people to move around within the company and offers opportunities for employees to shadow other departments. Compensation appears to be fair and competitive.

    Cons

There is a tremendous amount of micro-management in the department I currently work in. If you're a competent professional, you'll find this very difficult to deal with. To be fair, this may not be the way other departments operate. The office environment consists of cubicles. They feel confining and do nothing to mitigate noise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The huge amount of turnover in my department should send a loud, clear message. Stop micro-managing and start trusting the people you hired to do the job.

    Pros

Pay and benefits including 401K are great plus you get your holidays off!

    Cons

Greatest challenge was certain co-workers and top management the support was not all there they only care you do your job right. You learn as you go as training is not provided the right way. Plus manager had her favorites it was experts vs rookies type of job ambience. Working with this type of peeps was a joke I lasted 3 years there cause of the pay but that's it thank god I don't work there anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better Training and communication with employees. No favoritism be neutral with all employees.

    Pros

New Hires are sent to learn about the company at HQ in Long Beach, Calif.
Fair compensation (but I understand new hires make more than the experienced workers who have been there a while) great Benefits

    Cons

training and expectations are not practical, not realistic, not communicated well because everyone does things differently. No work life balance to stay compliant with documentation you have to work overtime and weekends to catch up.. No communication or support from supervisor. high turnover of staff and nobody seems to care if you stay or quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward long time employees and support new employees. The Molinas should go undercover to see how they can better fix their company.

    Pros

Genuine possibility to help people, especially people who have never had preventative healthcare before. Decent benefits and salary.

    Cons

HR claims to support staff but seem to overlook major infractions by leadership in regards to HIPAA violations, bullying and discrimination in the workplace. Protection for whistleblowers is non-existent and staff is reminded often how expendable they are. Absolutely no oversight of low level management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How do you expect to create loyal, hardworking employees if their complaints are overlooked and abusive behavior by management is tolerated? Create an HR Dept that actually takes complaints seriously instead of trying to discredit the person making the complaint.

I have been working at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Able to hire family and friends. Nice facility in downtown Long Beach and promote wellness programs (i.e., free gym, group exercise, rent a bike, etc.)

    Cons

Too many incompetent friends and family of the Molina's are hired. If you're one of them, you are safe, if not one of them, beware! You need to be an unquestioning follower in order to survive. Independent thinking is not looked upon favorably Many times, it's a "do as I say, not as I do" environment. Those who make the rules don't have to follow them, but everybody else does. Although it's a fortune 300 company, it's run very much as a "Mom & Pop" shop. The Molina's reach down into the organization to get involved in things that are way beneath what they should be concerned about, only for the reason to protect their friends. The board of directors probably don't know what's really going on.

Human Resources department is a joke, several decent HR professionals including VP's were summarily dismissed and replaced with "yes men". Why you ask? They dared to do their job, and say "no, we can't do this to people". In return, they were let go....sad....

The IT Department was told to stop innovating and just keep the lights on. Big IT shop and a lot of outside consultants for the size of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower your people and trust who you have hired, since they are the experts at what they do. Bring in talented leadership at the very top of the company to stir and guide it in the right direction, or else I'm afraid that Molina Healthcare as a stand alone company will ceased to exist, which might be a good thing for its employees and members.

    Pros

Molina treats the employees very well. Doesn't just say they value employees they show it. Impromptu holiday authorized for entire company because Senior Management recognizes how hard employees are working. Graeter's, Sno-Cone, popcorn and other stuff provided free for employees on a regular basis. Management treats employees with respect.
You actually get trained for your position. They value and actively promote employees growing in their careers.
Bottom line if they say it, they mean it.

    Cons

    Honestly can't think of any.
