Current Employee – been working at Momentive Performance Materials as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Global footprint. Highly educated, smart, hardworking employees. Backing from a large PE company, until eventual IPO. Flexible schedule: employees are allowed to work at home some of the time.
Cons – Demoralized by corporate reorganization and less than forecasted financial performance. Reducing the workforce is never fun. Quiet office, can have an uptight, politically correct, corporate vibe.
Advice to Senior Management – Wherever possible, reduce bureaucracy. Develop more creative, strategic leaders, plans.

Former Employee – worked at Momentive Performance Materials full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Company still have some technology left. Wish the owner can sell for a good price.
Cons – - too many people pretending to work but lip services more than real result
- too many re-org in a short time, all employees are looking for opportunity outside
- company culture has too much bad influence from GE
- almost all senior management are finance guys, no one really knows silicone industry and doesn't care about the industry development at all
- dragging too long in switching from regional focus to SBU focus...however the transition is a total failure! Both powers are still fighting that make the front-line people completely exhausted
- 100% financial driven...never care about product leadership, service excellency and customer intimacy!
- management only use never-ending meetings, reviews and computer systems to manage the employees so that smart employees only use spreadsheets, charts, powerpoints and bluffing speech to keep their job
- management have blind faith on numbers and metrics but never have an integrated picture and understanding of the whole business. ..well, in fact, it is common for all USA MBA
- morale, ethics, discipline and atmosphere are horrible in the work place...no mutual trust between management and employees at all...
- although there are so many check-and-balance in the operating system, integrity issue is serious in MPM because employees feel no future in this company
Advice to Senior Management – Sell it quick

Former Employee – worked at Momentive Performance Materials
Pros – there a lot of talented people in all functions and many levels who are cooperative and great to work with as well as the space is very interesting to technical people in specialty chemical field. Product develpers will enjoy a diverse and great set of equally talented customers.
Cons – This company has some of the most arrogant and self adsorbed leadership I've ever seen. A few are out right verbal bullies to their peers, teams and others around them. While there are a few really sharp and talented leaders most are extremely weak and back fight with each other often and in public view of the employees. The are smart enough but so focused on themeselves that it negatively impacts team performance broadly. The facilities are old and tired and need serious upgrades especially waterford site. Safety performance is not outstanding by any measure though measure were being taken to improve. Not a leader in the market space with but a few exceptions. Often under re-organization. Maybe 4 times over 5 year span. Moral is generally poor but is site dependent. Not a healthy work environment.
Advice to Senior Management – Management team, when you so clearly demonstrate that you care more about your personal status and pay position then about your employees and customers you missed the boat and are no longer leading. it's not about you. Change your behavior or stand down and let somebody else lead. You can find a role you are more better suited for and get professional training in leadership.

Current Employee – been working at Momentive Performance Materials
Pros – Momentive has a strong background. They are leaders in their field and growing. Major organizational changes around the company have been taking place. Whether that's a good thing or bad I still can't tell.
Cons – The plant needs to implement more process engineering strategies. It just doesn't seem like scheduling operations are being optimized to their full potential.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep on valuing and respecting your employees. They are your greatest resource and they are people who have dedicated their lifes to make this company grow.

Former Employee – worked at Momentive Performance Materials
Pros – Nice coworkers. Cannot list too many pros within the company. Good benefits package with health, vision, dental and 401k.
Cons – Changes in management were constant- every other year it seemed. With constant Mgmt changes, knowing your individual role in the company can be confusing at times.
Advice to Senior Management – Growing the company is obviously a major goal, but do not forget all the hard workers who have spent 50-60 hours a week running operations for the company.

Former Employee – worked at Momentive Performance Materials
Pros – They have a very small, close corporate culture. Very easy to know everyone on your floor and is very easy going. They host plenty of events to increase employee morale.
Cons – I doubt there are many opportunities for advancement here. There is definitely a ceiling on how high you can go in the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Great job with the way you keep employees motivated. It really makes it a nicer place to work when everyone is hoping for you to succeed.
