    Pros

Challenging, professionally-rewarding environment with broad-range of projects and great, smart and driven colleagues that one can learn from.

    Cons

The usual - sometimes there are few critical issues or deadlines that creeps up and overlap with each other which makes it very difficult to prioritize and manage in timely manner.

    Pros

The leadership team are great people and guiding the company to invest in the right places. No bull, really focused on being valuable to their clients and delivering. The culture turned a massive corner about a year ago.

    Cons

The Thornhill office needs a massive makeover and holiday hours in the summer wouldn't hurt. The expectation is high in most areas, but some areas are carrying the company. Other areas clearly feel some sense of entitlement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep investing in the right people and continue to establish the brand.

    Pros

After a number of changes I feel as though this place is getting the right mix at all levels and finally creating an identity I can get behind. From my perspective the floor (the real workers) are being heard and the clients I communicate with seem appreciative of the work being delivered.

    Cons

Processes still need some work which is adding to the daily workload.
Still work to be done (certainly on the website).
Momentum is in the shadow of the flailing parent company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give back a bit more - it wouldn't kill you to cut the clock early on the Friday of a long weekend!

    Pros

Offered room for learning new things, OK salary. Big Clients.

    Cons

Sales team made pitches without solid ground and knowing whether it could be delivered, therefore putting all the doers under unnecessary stress and making them their scapegoat in case the sales pitch failed, or the client was dissatisfied with the deliverable.
Put stress on staff by forcing them to fill out timesheets with non-sense such as billable or non-billable hours, left no room for doing research to keep up with industry trends.
    No clear direction from management.
Not much room for interaction between staff, built high cubicles so everyone felt isolated from their co-workers sitting two meters away from.
Stinking men's washroom in Thornhill office. How hard or expensive is it to pay someone to clean it on regular basis?
Certain staff had bully mentality, hard to work with them, no real team spirit.
If you were a close friend with the management you would move up the ladder, regardless of your credentials. There was favoritism and politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A company is only as good as the people who actually do the work, not those who like to listen to their own BS. So value the hard working doers and recognize their efforts.

    Pros

    - A few great people
    - office locations are good
    - one large solid client

    Cons

    - being run by a holding company
    - entire senior leadership removed, and replaced by a person from the holding company, someone who knows nothing about the business
    - no vision or direction
    - bad moral
    - no HR support
    - been 6 rounds of layoffs since May of 2012

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

either get someone who knows how to run the company (and the business) or just get out of the development and creative business all together

A company I should have avoided

    Pros

-There have been a number of enjoyable people that made working here a 'Pro'. Sadly, many of them have been forced out.
-The client list is something to be excited about, but that's where this 'Pro' ends.

    Cons

-If you're not in Sales or hold a redundant VP role, then you're making less than your industry standard.
-Micromanaging and dictatorship management is on the rise, along with fear mongering and an exploding amount of uncertainty of the future.
-To save the salaries of under performing Sales and VP people, the rest of the company (the real workers) is made to suffer through ongoing layoffs. Too big too fail, eh?
-There's a double standard between the Toronto and Thornhill offices, a sort of war between the two
-The work/life balance has shrunk to nothing. There's no flex time. No remote work or hotelling– no trust
-Department heads are practically ghosts and seem to exist in a different world
-Fear and paranoia are rampant, making working in any of the offices unenjoyable and gut wrenchingly tough to stomach
-The blatant mistreatment of hard working, pragmatic employees is deplorable.
-Seems that more idiots are allowed to be gainfully employed here, on top of more being brought in to replace the brilliant members of past

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    File>Delete Management
    File>New Management

Quit your jobs and allow new people you don't socialize with to take over. The last thing Momentum needs is the same people with the same selfish, narrow-minded tendencies. No friends. No family. No connections made on business trips. No one you know by first name. Change is good right about now.

Momentum needs to fire everyone with a VP on their business card. None of them have shown any progress, EVER!

Trust your hard working "peons" to run this company. They put in the most hours and sacrifice the most for lesser money.

    Please, do this yesterday!

This company is still searching for solid footing

    Pros

The people, flexibility, impressive client list, the potential.

    Cons

Extreme multi-tasking environment, detrimental to delivering quality and developing minds. Lack of clearly defined roles for team leads and managers resulting in a trickle effect of chaos. Weak internal processes. Immature sales team. Internal hourly timetracking for salaried employees. Little mentoring (not billable?).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company is definitely shifting and poised for change. But it still needs to re-evaluate being a Sales-driven -vs- Market-driven company. Kill the old-fashioned billable hour business model. It is not sustainable and only creates unneeded inefficiency and stress within the organization. Develop the finance group so that it oversees profitability differently and more effectively. Stop treating talent like production machinery. Invest in your best assets - your current employees. Find the balance in developing skills and to promote from within - all practices. Set expiry dates on product support to help foster innovation and keep talent pool fresh and engaged. Develop a product development program. Invest in real growth, not just a race to meet shareholder demands. Raise the bar and make it an enviable culture to work in. If none of the above happens, nobody will feel like they're riding on the same train of success as executive management & CEO.

    Pros

Momentum is poised for massive growth. This company is set up to succeed strategically, and financially.. There has been a real shift in the culture in the past few months that is infectious, and exciting. Great opportunities.

    Cons

Change is always a bit painful, but the vision is well set, and the leadership is effectively communicating the goals and how to get there. The geographic division is difficult sometimes. the culture is shifting slowly, but there is definitely a change here as the organization has matured and is coming into its own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the course, keep communicating with your team, so they know how to participate, and create ways to build better culture and collaboration.

    Pros

great people except sales and the upper management

    Cons

No HR so basically they can do whatever they want, they fire people for no reason even though a great job is being done. The sales team is by far the worst I have ever worked with. If you are in bad books with them you are definitely being fired. Turn over is so high that no one stay more than 6 month, and if you do then it's by some miracle. The upper management running the company, a bunch of sales guys that just talk talk and put the rest of the company at work and as collateral damage. One of the lowest paid agencies in GTA!! I hope the Ontario Labor Board sends someone undercover to monitor what they are doing that's all I'll say

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let other people run the company, you clearly don't know what you are doing. The ship is definitely sinking and you already know it. Instead of thinking about money first you should start thinking about values, ethics, positive environment, group spirit and running a company under proper Ontario Labor Laws.

    Good luck to you all!
