Pros
Momentum employees are fun, down to earth and have positive, go-getter attitudes. Coming into work was always a joy. Everyday was full of new surprises.
Cons
Like any marketing or advertising agency, you can't always count on much job security. Other than this inherit problem with the industry, there were no downsides to working at this agency.
Pros
The thought of working for Momentum was great, a large company with many advancement opportunities. I got to speak with many new interesting people over the phone for training ect. The best part was managing my own schedule.
Cons
Momentum could be a great company to work for if they listened to what was going on in the field. The local clients (Spirits Business) are not in tune with what the brand teams are trying to accomplish. All they want are glorified sales people to run around and do the things they don’t want to do. When you are hired from a specific marketing based position that is what you should be expected to do. I also noticed a major disconnect with the flow of information from corporate to the field.

Pros
Great people and they empower you to do whateve it takes to get the job done.
Cons
Benefits slowly getting worse; but at least there are still some.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job so far.
Pros
If younger or certainly just out of school, more possibilities to grow and expand your career. There are also a lot of pretty big clients still hanging with Momentum (part of IPG).
Cons
Beware, as with many ad agencies, if you are an older employee. The larger a company the bigger the justifications they have (internally, and especially withijn the parent company) for dismissing you as you sneak past your 30s and beyond. This is no different with Momentum. Age discrimination still exists, believe it. Accountability is always part of the job description for ACDs and CDs, but unfortunately at Momentum, communications from the top to help drive responsible decisions at the mid-manager level were not so forthcoming. You can't be effective without good information.
Advice to Senior Management
Look out for your employees as well as yourselves. The product is creative and they make you look good - you just may not have opened your eyes enough to realize that.
Pros
Good starting experience. Stepping stone on to bigger and better things. Good client base.
Cons
Momentum was once an agency that I was proud to work for. Upper Mngmt cared for the people, the work and about the culture. Now it is an agency run like a corporation in which the NY office axes people without even knowing who they are or what they do. The pay scale is less than many other agencies and local companies. Upper management insists on pursuing advertising work and shuns the sales promotion/retail work that made Momentum what it is and what the agency excels at. Many employees view Momentum as a stepping stone to something better somewhere else.
Advice to Senior Management
Get back to the people, the work and the culture. You are losing your best people, the work has clearly suffered through the past 5 years and there is no culture anymore; and culture is the heart and soul of an agency. Recognize that you have become an empty corporate agency and make changes to get your groove back.
Pros
Fun people, nice office space, good clients. Lots and lots of time off.
Cons
There seems to be no real plan for how our group should be 'moving it forward'. Our department isn't sure what our future is with the company. People leave and aren't replaced when there's a real need for that position to be filled. Although you get a lot of time off it's hard to actually use it due to workloads. Morale is poor.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate more with your employees. Trust your employees. Understand that even non-creatives are valuable
Pros
It was an opportunity to work on a great new account. Good benefits, pay was reasonable.
Cons
Their scope and strategy for the new account they hired for was not organized or well thought out.
Advice to Senior Management
Have realistic expectations for your new employees. Have a better planning process. Be more honest with your employees about expectations.
Pros
After a stuff 2009 year, there is some growth happening at Momentum Worldwide. Chris Weil, Momentum CEO, is very smart man, who I believe is driving all the change here at this company.
Cons
No growth plan for empolyees. You work an account till someone above you quit, then you move up. Or you stay in the same account till you die of boredum.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop having your account team work on only one account. It gets boring and you limit the company resources.
Pros
A lot of holidays and PTO. the time off is very generous. This is probably the best reason to work here. However, the workload often makes it almost impossible to use all the time off, so...
Cons
Management doesn't seem to appreciate the little people. People in roles other than "creative" are interchangeable and completely replaceable on a moments notice. Work loads uneven. No recognition of hard work/dedication.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to the "little" people. Stop spending ridiculous amounts on ridiculous things. Maybe you wouldn't have to layoff so many people if money wasn't being thrown away on silly expenditures and outrageous salaries for a few.
Pros
Great people. Innovative. Fun atmosphere. You can learn alot from the Senior Staff. Well informed and creative. Great clients as well as perks. Able to travel and go to lots of exciting events. Not a lot of micromanaging. Independence is greatly appreciated and acknowledged. Company is extremely fair with time off - giving first year employees 18 days off. They try to creative a fun and engaging culture.
Cons
Not enough promotions....salaries are on the low side. Great training courses but not always given to the right people.
Sometimes unable to move to different accounts
Advice to Senior Management
