Pros
great pay compare to other check cashing businesses.
Cons
have to be flexible because its open 7 days a week.
Pros
The benefits were pretty good as I remember. Most of the people they hired were good, hard working people. Pay did not reflect the hardwork put in but I will say that I was recognized quite often for a job well done. The management was hardworking and I got along with all the store managers well enough to work there for a year.
Cons
The attire required for a teller is ridiculous. They made you dress up to "business casual" but in reality a lot of the store managers required "business attire." I wore nice sweaters with black pants, no cleavage, nothing showing wear and tear, but had been asked to wear a blazer at least two times a week because I wasn't dressing formally enough. This was really unfair but I complied. We really do not make enough money as tellers to buy many blazers and pantsuits. Looking back now after obtaining a job in a much higher position after graduating from college, I see that this was ludicrous. The only reason I didn't complain to higher management is because I was afraid they would play favorites and I needed a good job at the time.
I think the management needed better training. The managers seemed to all have it in their heads just because they "manage" they are allowed to enforce ridiculous dress code rules along with some other very ridiculous ones, such as not being able to bring a laptop to work in your purse. I took it out to show someone, I wasn't using it at work nor did I take it out any other time.
Another con is that you have to stand the entire 8-10 hours you work there besides your required breaks. Wearing business attire and pumps does NOT make for happy feet. Consider getting stools for your employees so they do not limp at the end of the day.
Advice to Senior Management
Please standardize your clothing attire throughout the whole company. A manager should not be taking points off a review just because he deemed a persons' wardrobe to not be "business" enough attire. That .50 cents I could have gotten in my raise would have been great and appreciated especially for a year's work well done. Reviews did not reflect my hardwork, especially when it took off points for my supposedly "un-business attire". Please consider getting stools for your employees. Every one of the women tellers I worked with complained of foot aches when it was the end of an 8 hour workday.
Pros
The entry level pay is pretty good in comparison to it's competitors, or just general entry level positions. You get a 2 week training course, with a couple observations days and then two weeks where you are set up with an experienced team member so that helps. Overall the staff and management seems willing to help and the customer base is good (depending on your area). Benefits package is A+.
Cons
While it's understandable given the current state of the economy, the employee incentives have gone down the drain. The company is constantly bringing in new means to make the money business, and employees are constantly having to learn these new procedures yet nothing is being given to them to reflect their new amount of workload. You are quick to be told when something isn't to standard, yet you're not told when you're doing things well as often as you should.
Advice to Senior Management
Point out the good as least half as often as you're willing to point out the bad.
Pros
The ONLY reason to work for Moneytree is if you are soulless and money-hungry--monthly bonuses and bonuses for catching fraud. Bonuses are calculated based on number of hours worked in a given month and the volume of business your store does. At the busiest store in Spokane monthly bonuses for a full-time employee were in the hundreds, but they are subject to regular taxes.
Cons
The major downside to working at Moneytree is that they are a business solely out to make a profit. They do not care about the customer at all--payday loans are lecherous and predatory, and you NEVER feel good about working there. They very rarely give you 2 days off in a row and more often than not work you more than 5 days in a row. A common shift at my store was to leave at 9.30 pm and be scheduled the next morning at 6.30 am. Another downside is that if you take a bad check they write you up for it.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management needs to be totally wiped out and someone brought in to completely change the way this horrific company is run.
