    Pros

Good hours. Pay was average but in some other roles better.

    Cons

It seems many people play "politics" to keep themselves in work.

    Advice to Management

    Be aware of politics

    Pros

They are always interested in latest technologies and tools, and are very thorough in evaluating these. I have found my software development aptitude has increased as a result of working there.

    Cons

Lots of negotiation, ideas are rigorously evaluated and compared to other technologies and ideas. This can sometimes cause a lot of work to be put in regarding sync up of various personnel.

    Advice to Management

To pursue advanced technologies to automate repetitive but complex software development tasks.

    Pros

Work-life balance is yours for the taking. Pay and pensions are generous in this climate. 32.5 days holiday plus bank holidays is great too.

    Cons

There are a lot of management layers. Although this seems good for promotion, it can lead to frustration. Promotions can be political so you need to be good a finding a way through the office politics.

    Advice to Management

Consider including 360 appraisals in the annual review process. It could make a huge difference. Most employees are used to this through their backgrounds in professional service firms, so it would be well respected.

    Pros

Location of office; compensation is adequate; politically interesting work; some colleagues are fun and very smart (but see below)

    Cons

Unbearably macho culture - things are always done at the last minute to make people feel important; people are stuck in their ways of working; senior management appear scared of criticism and dissent; macho culture encourages bullying.
