Monrovia Nursery Reviews
Pros – Pay near tops in industry. Good product quality and brand recognition. Good opportunities for advancement. Safety and environmental issues are priorities. Challenging...They expect the best, so be ready to prove it, whether you enter general labor, sales, management, or production. A good environment for hard-workers - extra hours are expected.
Cons – Aggressive, but reckless company that makes a lot of foolish business mistakes jeopardizing the health of the company, causing unnecessary restructuring, layoffs, and strain with their customers.
– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
Pros – Used to be the leader in the horticulture industry before the owners made millions by selling land in Los Angeles County.
Cons – Like General Motors before the government bail out, 70 year old management team leaders are unwilling to change and adapt to the needs today's buying consumers.
Advice to Senior Management – Abandoning the Independent retail garden center customers for Lowe's big box stores and overcharging for commodity plants means high-end consumer will look elsewhere. Plant quality has not kept up with the yearly price increases. Monrovia's wholesale price is the same as Home Depot's retail price even after the maximum customer discount.

Pros – A lot of quality people
Cons – Inability to define and implement consistent and best practices
Advice to Senior Management – Promote within. Base personnel decisions on proven record, instead of the personal dislikes of an inexperienced and egotistical CFO
