I have been working at Monsanto Company as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is great, above the market. Software development is challenging and managers have development background, they're always trying to keep people committed and satisfied. Great work environment, most of my teams have been tight and ready to help when needed.

    Cons

It's difficult to work with teams located in STL, some of them tend to distrust people working overseas; you need to work over 60-80 hrs a week if you want to stand out. Politics are rough, I saw people leaving the company because of this. Few opportunities for contractors to become Monsanto employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've seen managers that are not prepared to be in their positions, this makes difficult for people to stay focused and motivated, not to mention that strategy coming from these people may be simply wrong.

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The culture is one of the best parts of working with this company. Most of the people are very friendly, and the company is very diverse. They also have lots of networking events that provide employees with a chance to meet new people and learn about other departments. They provide many training seminars and business opportunities to help develop individuals into better business professionals.

    Cons

Office Politics are one of the biggest con about this job. It doesn't matter how hard you work, you still will not be noticed or promoted. Jobs and promotions go to people who have built key relationships, not those who work the hardest. At times it can feel as though you are trapped in your position, and you just get overlooked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do a better jobs of creating loyal employees out of workers who do their best for you. Without loyalty you cannot build a strong work force. You can definitely build a team that is functional, but pay attention to the happiness of your employees.

I have been working at Monsanto Company as a contractor for more than 8 years

    Pros

They offer competitive pay and paid holidays off to their seasonal employees.

    Cons

They are able to work you 40 hours a week for years on end but consider you a "seasonal employee" so they don't have to offer you the same benefits a full-time employee receives. There is no true management; most upper level managers aren't even in the same state as their employees which doesn't provide the correct structure that is needed for employees.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great/Fun people to work with- You can't find a better team to work with.
Great place to learn plant engineering. Senior engineers are easy to work with. Family like atmosphere.

    Cons

Stagnant career. Advancement require a lot of patience and perception rules!! Also, Management wants to do things that will make a better power point presentation, while everyone knows reality out in the field is completely different! No one listens to quarterly reviews, but plant manager likes them- so he can put a bullet point on his resume.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to look good with temporary cost savings and do what will benefit the company in the long run. Stop "organisational changes". It doesn't matter how you cut it, work is work and the only way to do it is to get up and get at it!

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In agriculture, it´s rare to find a company that provides great work/life balance, competitive compensation and excellent benefits, also, safety is the #1 priority, which is great for you and your family. Ample opportunities for personal and professional growth!

    Cons

Could take a month or more to fully understand the organizational structure, constant changes and reorganizations can take a toll in project development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please review thoughtfully at the the team responsible of managing the vegetables manufacturing business, it seems they don´t possess a clear understanding and operational know-how, they though it was the same as corn and the business is loosing market share and participation. Sad.
