I worked at Montage Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Over all great people to work with. Lots of growth and potential. They are open to training and give plenty of opportunity for learning and development.

    Cons

Human resources did not support employees' concerns with management and training. High turn over due to lack of support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management training for upper levels would be effective in managing younger, new employees.

Montage Beverly Hills needed upper management help

Former Employee - Server in Beverly Hills, CA

I worked at Montage Hotels & Resorts part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They provide you with a meal everyday. Its cafeteria food at best but at least its free. Also they provide you with a uniform which they wash on site so you never have to worry about washing or ironing your work uniform. The staff is very friendly and there is opportunity to work in different departments. They have free on site parking!

    Cons

Upper management needed some serious work. They made rash decisions that poorly affected the staff. I was a server and the restaurant was constantly understaffed. My first week they changed the hours of the restaurant because of a guest complaint even though we were not properly staffed and forced us to work 12 hour days. Always forced overtime, always put us in the weeds because there was not enough staff, made us wear sweaters when it was 80 degrees. Worked overtime on Christmas and never got a break or rest period.

I worked at Montage Hotels & Resorts full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

(Mostly) Good, hard working, friendly coworkers.
    Beautiful setting.
    Free daily meal.
    Luxurious and comfortable environment.
Some benefits and special privileges. (General hotel use, related perks, etc)
Gain valuable experience in the luxury resort industry.
    Meet some great people. (Guests)
Have a chance to impact the lives of others in a positive, lasting way.

    Cons

Parking; I hate to complain, but it really was the worst. (Off site, Ruby's Diner, walking, or the Hospital, with shuttle service to and from the resort)
Management can be blind at times to the relationships between coworkers.
Somewhat of a clique atmosphere between the different departments.
Not a lot of actual opportunities for real advancement, though they seem to promote the idea heavily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to pay more attention to the dynamics of your team on a relational level. Many times folks who do a truly good job are overlooked because they don't boast about their hard work, while those who voice their accomplishments get recognized simply because they choose to be loud and attention seeking.

I have been working at Montage Hotels & Resorts

    Pros

    Quality benefits and work environment

    Cons

    Substandard pay in the industry

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quality workplace, but take a note from what works. Staffing is difficult. To provide the level of service inherent to the brand, you need to pay associates enough to want to stick around.
