I have been working at Montefiore Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Team approach and family-centered care. Diverse staff with respect and value for support staff. Positive work and learning environment.

    Cons

Location in Norwood section of the Bronx with little to do in the area. Union position for social work means job security but little opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

There should be opportunities for advancement for support staff.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Montefiore Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about working there is having the opportunity to meet new people and possibly network. Starting out as a customer service liaison can lead to a dead end fast if you do not meet someone high up on the food chain.

    Cons

The superiors feed you tons of crap saying things like "you can make it far if you apply yourself," but after you have a conversation with a few of the other liaison's that have been there for years and are still in the same position you will beg to differ. That position is basically a gateway position to get your feet wet considering how hard it is to get inside Montefiore period if you're not some type of doctor with an extensive educational background.

    Advice to Management

My advise don't get trapped in the CSR world it's not a happy one. Go to school and intern while you're there until you graduate because when that's done that's when the big money will fall on your lap. Any other way is a waste of time unless you know someone.

I have been working at Montefiore Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    They're generous with time off.

    Cons

    - They have more care for the patients and not for the employees. - They are highly understaffed across the entire IT organization to where those that are there are suffering and over worked. - There are many who are disgruntled due to the lack of respect from management, - Many employees call out sick or take personal due to their high unhappiness where they work and get no respect.

    Advice to Management

Always, always remember how EASY it is to look for jobs these days. EVERYONE can get another job. It's as easy as having a job app on the phone and move on. BE COGNIZANT of your employees' overall well-being. After all, not only are they expendable--but so is the company!

I have been working at Montefiore Medical (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good health and retirement benefits. I like the culture, the people are down to earth. Jobs seem stable. There is opportunity for growth, if you want it. Easy commute. Train nearby.

    Cons

Not too much of a health insurance selection in the benefits package. Over the last few years they have increased out-of-pocket co-pay for care and prescription to employees.

    Advice to Management

    Improve salary.

    Pros

it was a great experience working for this company because I learn a lot during my time there. I love the company because from the administration to employees everyone work together to do the right thing, that is satisfy patients needs. I wouldn't have left if I was not moving out of New York.

    Cons

Its really a busy hospital and you have to really work long hours a times, but at the same time you are making the money.
