    Pros

Reasonable work-life balance; mid-level managers and analysts very good at their jobs; few market competitors. Decent opportunities to move around within the firm.

    Cons

Senior management have too many responsibilities and often are too removed from the specifics of particular business problems. Difficult to get promoted on merits alone - department quotas have precedence. New hires are brought in at higher job titles than experienced existing employees with similar experience.

    Advice to Management

Look for ways to retain skilled employees - lots of smart people leave over slow pace of promotion and slim salary increases.

    Pros

Excellent benefits and work-life-balance; access to senior management is very good. Sky is the limit if you are self-motivated and a hard-worker.

    Cons

Operates in a semi-competitive industry which tends to slow decision making. Under performers are not managed swiftly which leads to a generally less intense work environment.

    Advice to Management

Speed up decision making; make mistakes more quickly and recover. Every decision can't be perfect - so don't try for perfection when it doesn't exist.

    Pros

    1. Good medical, vision and dental benefits. 2. Professional environment and impressive facilities. 3. Headquarters in the heart of the financial district. 4. Compensation is market value or better. 5. Thorough preformance evaluation process.

    Cons

    1. Information Systems: Work/Life is non-existent. 2. HR department is untrustworthy. 3. Software and Hardware is under-par with other financial companies.

    Advice to Management

Moody's strenght has always been from its #1 asset, dedicated employees. Your current management team (especially IT management) lacks that core value. The amount of deliverables committed to business management does not match the current staffing levels. This has resulted in unsatisfied customers and burnt-out staff. I hope this improves for the current and future employees.

    Pros

Moody's is a Great place to work with a good focus on work life balance and benefits. I've had the privilege of reporting to excellent managers.

    Cons

The pay is pretty meager. You won't starve, but you will look at your paycheck occasionally and think about making a move elsewhere.

    Pros

Decent corporate culture (much better than investment banking), committed to diversity Very LGBT-friendly and committed

    Cons

Terrible IT and work infrastructure Useless human resources - if your complaint isn't about sexual or racial harassment, forget about help from HR Very low salaries - a 1.5% raise is considered a merit raise (REALLY!), leading to a serious employee retention problem Next to impossible to get promoted Inconsistent management - managers are provided no training on how to actually manage people And if you're considering taking a job in communications, think twice!

    Advice to Management

Hire a decent CTO and communications managers, spend some serious money on infrastructure, listen to employees, and start paying your people better

    Pros

Close to subways & path station If your house is about to foreclose, Moodys is better than begging on the street.

    Cons

Plenty of people had warned me about Moodys, but I didn't realize it would be that bad. The company was well known as a bottom feeder for technology for decades before things came to a head with their debacle helping cause the 2008 financial crisis. They have since tried to bring their IT up to basic standards but have been using the same incompetent middle managers that got them in the mess in the first place, with predictable disastrous results. They churn through consultants and flog those that are visa slaves to death. I've witnessed a consultant having their ID removed and on investigating finding out they were being let go on the same day. Professional courtesy doesn't not extend to how consultants are treated. Terrible unprofessional management Treat consultants like garbage Don't understand modern day IT standards or technology

    Advice to Management

Perform a full audit with everyone working there including consultants and remove abusive incompetent middle management
