Lack of promotions and low morale

Analyst (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsStrong presence in the market, benefits are decent, easy hours (9-5), good to have on resume.

ConsPromotions are only for those who play office politics and everyone leaves every other year in hopes of a promotion. Pay of salary is lower than the market.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf promotions are a slow process, provide those with a bump in bonus.

Nice people, challenging yet somewhat boring work...

Summer Intern (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGood pay (at least for an intern), a lot of diversity in the workplace, your opinion is valued no matter what your position. Reputable company on a resume.

ConsI've heard it's hard to move up in the organization, work can be mundane because of the subject matter

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the interns more long term projects or presentations rather than short, quick assignments

Pretty good company to work for

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

    Pros1) Good corporate culture
    2) Very LGBT-friendly
    3) Strives to provide employees a good work-life balance
    4) Very collegial environment
    5) Extremely diverse, if somewhat nerdy, staff

Cons1) Individual managers can be terrible, unresponsive, tend to manage up exclusively, with a considerable amount of contempt towards reports.
    2) IT department is the worst I've ever seen.
    3) Pay is significantly below market rate (a perennial complaint by employees); raises are at best a joke, if not a downright insult.
    4) Management tends to reinvent the wheel with every new project.

Advice to Senior Management1) Find someone who knows what he or she is doing to head IT.
    2) Start giving everyone decent raises, or else the company is going to suffer a massive brain drain when the market turns.
    3) Hire a consulting firm, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel all the time.
