I worked at Moose Lodge full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great customers, flexibility in work hours, work was easy enough on none drawing nights.

    Cons

Management sucked at the time, drawing nights were way too much for one person and ended in unhappy customers when food was wanted near drawing time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have at least two people on drawing nights and during the lunch rush through the week. Don't take your personal views on employees out on them during work hours and keep your drinking and abuse at home!

The people at the Moose Lodge were great. It was going through a transition so there were some challenges but everyone tried hard to make it work.

    Cons

The hours were tiring but people tried to support each other as much as they can.

    I worked at Moose Lodge

    Pros

The satisfaction you receive from knowing your helping kids at Mooseheart and the elderly at MooseHaven who wouldn't otherwise have much of a life. The thanks you get for helping to organize a fund raiser that generated thousands of dollars to help some family pay its medical bills. The smiles on a little boys/girls face when you hand them a stuffed animal just to be nice. The friendlyness of all the employees and most of the members who visit daily. The excitement about seeing positive changes daily in membership and income growth within the lodge.

    Cons

The officers for the most part were lazy. They wanted to run the lodge, but they didn't want to do the actual physical or other type of work to make things happen. When a person does show initiative to do things they act as if it is expected of that person and never reward, compliment or do anything to acknowledge a job well done by volunteers or employees. It's truly sad that the Lodge has to be under the control of so many officers who were in it just for the power of being in a decision making postion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The International and State organizations need to physically hire someone to come into the lodge when they are asked to and do a thorough investigation as to what the actual cause of the termoil is. Do not send in one of their flunkies to patch a hole or two and move on. The lack of concern by the uppermanagement will and has caused a severe loss in our lodge membership and income.

    I worked at Moose Lodge

    Pros

I enjoyed the members and volunteers, most were such nice people! As the only paid employee, I was responsible for practically everything which included learning many new skills as time went by. I accepted all the extra work without complaint and made the best of it.

    Cons

I was laid off without notice and replaced with a younger manager, particularly sad because most members are old enough to be my parents. What a way to say thanks for 5 1/2 years of hard work and loyalty! What a way to treat a member of this organization! Disillusioned, disgusted and DONE!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Business is almost gone, membership has dropped, and the board has only themselves to blame. Where are all the new young members you thought you would get by doing this?
