Pros – It is such a pleasant place to work.
Cons – Not much room for advancement, because people usually retire from here. Not many quit or transfer to another place of employment.

I have been working at Moraine Valley Community College part-time for more than a year
Pros – Minimal administrative interference in the teaching and developing of courses, combined with a competitive rate per credit hour (after taxes and SURS deductions, 634/credit) and prompt beginning of payments each semester. Abundance of resources and good students.
Cons – Slightly restrictive policy limiting hours per semester (as explained below), but this seems to be a standard part of the job market for adjunct labor.
Advice to Senior Management – The 12 ECH ceiling for adjunts is an inefficient drag on the adjunct labor market, as I am sure many superior adjuncts would immediately be willing to take on 24 ECH even at part-time pay. If student demand for a teacher is sufficient for their sections to fill before others, why should we deprive students of our best teachers simply to spread the work around to other, less competitive teachers? You would be better served deploying your best-reviewed and most demanded teachers as often as possible, for the sake of the students and the performance incentives of teachers. If I knew that improving my teaching through conferences, research, and contemplation would have a direct impact on the amount of teaching I was able to do, and therefore the amount of money I make, I would certainly be seeking every avenue possible to further engage and instruct students.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
