I worked at Morgan Stanley (Less than a year)

    Pros

Highly intellectual environment plus strong employee community - I have met some of the most amazing people in my life at MS who are not just business professionals but very well rounded individuals with wide-ranging interests outside work as well.

    Cons

Due to the size of the organization change can be sometimes difficult as there are many legacy systems, fragmented processes etc.

I worked at Morgan Stanley (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team, exposure to front office, best finance position for a fresh grad in Hungary

    Cons

On Hungarian standards money was good, but since we did the same as people in other offices who make 4x more, we were not the happiest all the time.

    Advice to Management

Try harder to retain top talent. Improve financial incentives.

I worked at Morgan Stanley as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the Hungarian Morgan Stanley which is a great place for IT and risk management. Salary is above hungarian average and there are a lot of programs sponsored by the firm. A lot of nice people.

    Cons

Finance department is a total letdown. No prospects of moving forward, a purgatory of doing the same excel-based work for years that a monkey could do after 3 hours of training. A lot of overtime, which is not paid for and you don't have the time to take out those hours. Never go to Morgan Stanley Hungary if you're looking for a career in finance. A person in the same position in New York earns more in a month than someone in Hungary does in a year.

    Advice to Management

Reform the management in Hungary. They don't know what they're doing. Research hungarian mentality, that's what's happening there.

    Pros

this is my first work place, started as an intern, continued as a grad, and been there for around 4.5 years. Great place for first job, and juniors.

    Cons

...but not too much chance for career. It is better to move on and seak for better opportunities, where you can work on up to date technologies. Cutting egde technologies in the advert are just words, nothing valid.

    Pros

i can't think of anything apart from free coffee and tea.

    Cons

Incompetent Management. This includes lack of professional knowledge, leadership skills and communication skills. It is very hard to take them seriously. Management tends to hide the weaknesses and instead of solving them they cover them up. Knowledge and hard work is not appreciated.Too many fights for positions, no fair play. Unhealthy environment to develop your career and network.

    Advice to Management

Get them replaced by competent and hard working leaders.

I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This work place has a terrific culture. People are given responsibility early, they are listened to and it is really good to work with users directly. It is easy to see the big picture. We can always call our users, colleagues to ask for more information. It was amazing that the feedbacks I got throughout the years were really precise, and my senior managers advices were really spot on. It is good to work here because I know management has a precise view on my performance.

    Cons

Sometimes there is too much support and smaller projects are sometimes are complex because the lack of documentation not because they are really complex.

    Advice to Management

I would push for more projects, there are lot of synergies not levereage on. There are lots of silos, where exactly same concepts are developed.
