    Pros

Very intelligent people, great network, inclusive community feel, good exposure to senior level management on most desks. Important, riveting work...always busy with something (which is nice considering you have to be at work)

    Cons

Nature of the business causes stress, frequent turnover (might lose a boss or colleague you really like), experience wholly dependent on specific desk...land on one you don't like, days get a lot tougher.

    Advice to Management

Make desks within division more connected, be more flexible to retain rising stars who work hard, and keep the collegial environment!!

    Pros

Light workload and my manager allows me to work from home as desired.

    Cons

The team I worked with was made of misfits and leftovers. Blatant nepotism (by certain religious group) and they did not bother to hide. All the employees in my team did, was to snoop around to see what the contractors were doing...and attempted to put the employees' names to the work you did (and erased yours). Not that I care about the credit as a contractor, but it was an "one person does the work, three people (pretend to) manage" type of environment.

Most employees I talked to also lamented lack of opportunities to advance (unless you are connected).

    Advice to Management

It's time to get rid of the dead-woods.

    Pros

Of all the large banks I've worked at, Morgan Stanley has the best overall life/work balance. Each division is different, of course, but the Technology & Data organization was very supportive of my professional and personal needs.

    Cons

Huge place. There's bound to be a certain degree of anonymity, so you have to go out and make your own connections/network.

    Advice to Management

Continue to cultivate the Wealth Management side of the house, while maintaining the excellence of the Institutional side as well.
