    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible work arrangements, good technology stack (on the Morgan side, the SB side works with vacuum tubes)

    Cons

Zero bonus for years now, LOTS of H1B- staff and India teams which depresses comp for everyone (local leaves->3 new India hires), really cool tasks (mobile, etc.) outsourced to contractors.

    Advice to Management

Realize that Gorman is perceived as a jerk in the lower ranks, and it depresses morale. Paying millions to traders and for the others it's "if you're unhappy, just leave".

    Pros

    - Good infrastructure. - Good hardware to get the work done but bad support structure.

I have been working at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Collaborative workplace, people very respectful of each other, work extra hours to fix problems. Enjoy the freedom to analyze and solve problems; not micromanaged by my boss.

    Cons

Ruthless when it comes to firing people; departed colleagues are forgotten overnight. Compensation is poor. Very little interaction with senior managers. Stingy with money: company wont pay to celebrate a team success when rolling out a new solution.

    Advice to Management

Too much bureaucracy; no sense of urgency when it comes to rolling out products and services. Inward focused organization; decision making is slow.

    Cons

Things are still in flux and will take years to settle in to a rhythm.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the tech - don't stop improving and look to advice from the people that do the day to day work - their insight is invaluable...and generally more accurate.
