    What is with the salaries?

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Prosgood benefits and good atmosphere

ConsNot sure how why Morningstar feels it can give salaries as if it were a nonprofit. Salary for Interaction Designer is about 33% less than the local average. This company is functioning in the stone age when it comes to technology and its design methodology.

Advice to Senior ManagementTime to wake up and realize the benefits of user experience and hiring smart design people.

Good company but too much instability over the years

    Senior Project Manager (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsGreat senior management team, good benefits, nice office environment

ConsLower pay, instability in certain business units due to so many reorganizations, too many young people are hired instead of mature professionals

Advice to Senior ManagementThere have been too many reorganizations over the years, creating too much instability in certain business units. I have been with Morningstar over 8 years in the same unit and have experienced at least 6 different reorgs. So much change has been really hard on our group and turnover has been high lately as a result. This also has caused low morale on our team.

    Misery

    Analyst (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsSome people do not work very much. If you are one of those people, work-life balance is good for you.

ConsI believe the company, at least the research department, systematically discriminates against older employees. If you have a career, pass this company by. If you are starting out in your career and want to learn how to carry out business in an unprofessional way with unpleasant people, this is your big chance.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFire yourselves.
