I have been working at MorphoTrak full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Boring or easy work, depending on how you want to look at it

    Cons

Work environment has become very toxic with complete breakdown of trust, communication and collaboration amongst groups. Nobody wants to take risk or speak up any more, which is mostly due the ongoing witch-hunt conducted by the CEO who is very inexperience, tends to overact, prematurely jumps to conclusions, and therefore makes constant mistakes! She has tried to improve communication coming from senior management, but unfortunately, the town halls showed that she and the executives have no clue on how to grow or sustain the business. Worse, new product releases and features have always been late and full of issues, which result in lot of finger pointing but apparently no ownership/accountability. Integration, test, and support teams always felt victim to those quality issues and often got blame for late delivery of contracts or customer complains. Employees are just keeping quiet, hoping to get by another day and eventually positive (instead of negative) changes will finally come!
As the business is getting worse, there is a general feeling/expectation that the Federal Way facility will be shut down in a few years or that Morpho will get rid of this business. It is time to look for rewarding/meaningful jobs at other companies!

Sell the business or replace the CEO and senior management team

    Pros

Interesting technology, many very dedicated workers, California location.
Customers are great to work with and give people a since of value working with them.

    Cons

New ceo made some good changes initially; however she has now been here 9 months and still seems clueless and incapable of growing the business. Instead of focusing on growth she focuses on witch hunts. She has never run a business before and has no technology background. People are still wondering how she got the job. She is overly sensitive and totally incompetent. Morale is at a record low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some very good senior managers like the head of customer support (my boss), the head of engineering and the head of Sales. But the others are very weak. If the parent company wants to grow the business then replace the CEO with someone who knows the markets and how to run a company. If the goal is to sell the company then put a CEO in who knows the industry and can make the company look attractive to potential buyers.

    Pros

MorphoTrak obtained a new CEO at the beginning of the year. She is making significant changes to the organization that are really positive.

MorphoTrak has a great products and strong relationships with our customers.

    Cons

Due to the new leadership and lots of structural changes, 2014 will be a year for significant change. I like the direction the change is going, but change is usually tough on the employees.

    Pros

Travel globally, been to 4 countries and all over the US. Great product, considering it's used by the FBI and Interpol it's really the best. Great employees for the most part. New CEO

    Cons

I agree with everyone, very political, management doesn't ever Listen to the Engineers (we are a software company right) not even the SR Engineers on core issues. Way too many managers and too few Engineers. No real non management career path for advancement. Project driven with little continuity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove several layers of management. Each project has a Technical Lead, Project Manager, Program Manager, Development Managers, QA managers, Business Unit Manager, 2 Business Unit Directors and a VP to get approved and a project out the door. How many Engineers? 1-2 sometimes 3 integration 1 sometimes 2 QA. That is 2x the amount of people telling the actual workers how to do their job.

    Pros

Colleagues make for a great work environment that maintains a great balance between professionalism and personable.

    Cons

Sometimes there can be too much politics for my taste. Sometimes competition within the same company is apparent and can be difficult to work through.

I have been working at MorphoTrak

    Pros

    Very friendly and helpful employees

    Cons

Little sense of teams or community. Team tasks are too disjointed for effective communication, and if feels as though only managers have the required knowledge to provide help on issues outside of their scope.

There seems to be a shortage of equipment and resources as requests can take months to be completed, if they are completed at all.
