Pros
Unionized
Good at scheduling time off
Great performance reviews and praise
Cons

Scheduling needs more consistency
Some people stay for too long and are in the way, when they should retire
Advice to Senior Management
Be more consistent when you schedule people. Test reciepes before you make us make it for the people.
Pros
Morrison provides professional growth and development opportunities exist for anyone interested in expanding their current knowledge base or job-related skills.
Cons
Not everyone is interested in professional growth and development and would prefer to continue to do things as they've always been done, instead of being open to more productive/progressive changes.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue looking for growth opportunities in employees and encourage them to take on more challenging duties to develop them to be in a position to pursue higher-level positions as the opportunities arise.
Pros
Pay was decent for job
Cons
Growth, doing too many jobs under one title
Advice to Senior Management
Learn how to treat people
Pros
People have worked with Morrison for years and if you are willing to move around a little, the sky is the limit for how high you can advance with the company.
Cons
Medical environments are always stressful because of the serious things happening to patients but there is great personal satisfaction to be gained from helping someone in crisis.
Advice to Senior Management
If you continue to put your frontline employees needs first you will continue to do well.
Pros
Food service directors are paid well, especially in the larger accounts. If you have a great regional team and support its a great company. Great training and lots of opportunities in the company.
Cons
They preach love em or lose em, taking care of employees, etc. For the most part this is true. But beware the higher up you go it's not the same. High level leadership are paranoid, egotistic, career conquerors that live and die by perception and self image, not the principles they preach. Top top leadership is also very disconnected from what the company does in each account and sometimes they get in the way of managers doing what is right and best for clients.
Advice to Senior Management
Think about a CEO change that will connect with employees and drive some top down cultural change to get back to what's important.
Pros
Innovative nutritional programs, focused culinary development, opportunities for advancement available. Total compensation package is superior to market competitors. Management training programs are top notch for most key unit positions.
Cons
More focus on the unit level, less from 30,000 ft "view". Each account has it's own identity some more demanding than others but it is at the unit level where companies make an impact or impression through client satisfaction/retention or referrals & opportunities for new business. Front-line employees (both management & staff) make or break the company, not the other way around.
Advice to Senior Management
Identify leadership at the unit and regional levels and ask the hard questions. Are they supporting line management & staff? Random observation and interviews should implemented for all accounts by a 3rd party to insure that company policy is being followed in lieu of "yes-reports" from regional and unit leadership. It is important for "Generals" to spend face time with foot "solders" to gain a perspective on how "commanders" are actually leading a team at the front line.
Pros
If you are willing to go after it, the possibilities are endless. I enjoy ample training and professional opportunities. I am often challenged with my work. I am able to stay engaged because the work varies and is often updated, there is much to stay ahead on.
Cons
This employer is like most, self managed career. You will need to go after your opportunites. There is an endless amount of information to absorb, in many topic areas.
Advice to Senior Management
In order to progress forward, keep developing your entry level managers with skills, track this at the national level for competencies. Look for more opportunites for alternative compensation.
Pros
Upper Management Support of Locations, Resources avaialable for personal growth, Balance of work and personal life
Cons
Salary is less than other competitors in the area, job description was not accurate
Advice to Senior Management
Sometimes thing look better on paper and are not pheasible to be implemented
Pros
Job is fairly simple to grasp. Management is lenient in giving time off. Interaction with different divisions within hospitals. Can be rewarding at times when dealing with patients.
Cons
For what you do, the pay is very subpar. Often treated as a sub-contracted employee. Often incompetent management. Can be draining.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase pay. Actually take the time to listen to your subordinates and maybe implement some of their suggestions. Make your employees feel appreciated.
Pros
They value their employees and work hard at fostering loyalty to the company. Advancement within the company is highly encouraged.
Cons
Frequent relocation is usually necessary for advancement although they are very good at providing financial assistance when relocation is necessary.
Advice to Senior Management
MMS is a wonderful company, not to just work for, but to work WITH. As an employee, you do not feel like you work for a huge company it feels very personalized.
