    Pros

Fantastic work. Challenging all the time. Lots of responsibility. Incredibly skilled and interesting colleagues. The opportunity to meet cutting edge clients, and to serve their critical legal needs. This is one of the top law firms in the world to work at.

    Cons

You will work hard. That is the only downside.

    Pros

Smart, team-oriented attorneys who practice law in a classy way (no below the belt lawyering); captivating, interesting work; generous maternity leave policy

    Cons

Very little (or none) opportunities for stand-up court room or deposition experience, unless it is for pro bono clients; every single associate I know in the securities group in SF is miserable (I am not in that group - the pros listed above apply to the other practice groups in SF office).

    Advice to Management

Associates need and want more courtroom experience

    Pros

Location, very smart people, high-profile cases and clients. The experience will be very dependent on the partner or partners that you work for. Some partners are extremely reasonable for BigLaw standards.

    Cons

It is very difficult to have any kind of life outside of work because you are too exhausted at the end of the day to do anything - socialize or even cook dinner. I have no idea how people with families did it, unless their partner or nanny or extended family shared more of the burden of the child rearing.

    Advice to Management

Not much you can do to change unless the whole BigLaw mentality/structure changes

MoFo will work you to death, then give you a .3% raise (after making nearly $1 billion in profit)

    Pros

Great location in the heart of the financial district

    Cons

Very long hours, very low pay relative to the market, dishonest reviews

    Advice to Management

    compensate the paralegals better

    Pros

Paycheck was decent--but not awesome considering it's SF. Nice office overlooking the bay. Free dinner on Thursdays.

    Cons

There's SO much work for everyone, that they don't take time to train you---and then wonder why you do something a certain way (e.g. not their way).

    Advice to Management

Have a strategic and structured training plan for employees (from the ground up)...you're new and current employees will be less distressed over this.
