Don't waste your time!!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at Mosaic Company (Minnesota) full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat place to work if you lack drive, have no desire to progress your career and enjoy having incompetent Directors and Managers steal your work and present it as their own

ConsCulture, Leadership or Lack of, ex: Director of ROIC already failed as a plant manger and was fired was brought back to be the change agent to drive improvement?! Definiton of insanity is what? People laugh at him behind his back and cannot stand him yet he strolls around like he owns the place. What a joke!! And there is at least two examples lioke that in every dept!

Advice to Senior ManagementGo ahead and step aside and let some new business minded people take control before you sink it.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Professional Manager (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at Mosaic Company (Minnesota)

ProsThe pay is good for the region. It has large company benefits.

ConsThe other reviews are on the money. Don't come to Mosaic expecting to be a star performer, the culture of the company is one in which mediocrity and 2 hour lunch crowd protect their jobs. This means if you stand out, you will be a target. There is a poly-anna corporate headquarters in Minnesota that is out of touch with the incompetence in Florida. If you work here, expect to conform or be ostracized. Clique-ish. Salaried workers do not have a 21st century view of their union coworkers. The union is weak and runs scared. Upper managment in Florida is low rung and probably would flounder anywhere but Mosaic. It is a little world of its own, not a globally balanced company.

Advice to Senior ManagementAccountability, outside consultants to thoroughly interview and assess.

Supervision

Supervision (Former Employee)
Lithia, FL

I worked at Mosaic Company (Minnesota) full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGood Pay, decent working conditions, good benefits, educational benefits, front line supervision knowledgeable, continous advancement available, retirement contibutions above average for most companys of equal size

ConsTerrible senior management, so out of touch with the front line supervision and general workforce, its sadly comical. Example: VP in charge of Environmental, former job was Dow Chemical with no concept of safety or phosphate. Field Technicians workedin areas requiing 4 wheel drive trucks, dure to mud, water etc.. Senior Managment wanted to down size the vehicle fleet, suggested that they Technicians use their personal vehicles ( Kia ) really ?

Advice to Senior ManagementPlace senior management inpositions that they are qualified for, the " good ole boy" is so 1970's, Large turnover on senior managment ( not fired-move to higherpay with new company's) every 2-5 years new VP's, total disruption to front line supervision. If its not broke, don't fix it

working for the Mosaic Company in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan

Electrician (Current Employee)
Esterhazy, SK (Canada)

I have been working at Mosaic Company (Minnesota)

ProsThe pay is fairly decent although it isn't quite up to tradesmen standards. Work has usually been fulltime without any lay-offs.

ConsToo much of senior management belongs to the " Ol' boys club". At the same time alot of new staff, ie; young engineers, think they know everything and don't like to take the time to listen to advice from senior employees. Employees are always last to here what's going on with the mining operation.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees that have the experience and have seen the same thing tried over and over. Don't keep employees like mushrooms and value the hardworking and knowledgeable employees that you have.

A Mosaic of mediocre management, frustration, and volatile commodity prices.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Tampa, FL

I worked at Mosaic Company (Minnesota)

ProsMosaic is very laid-back and overall has a good work/life balance.

ConsThere are loads of employees at Mosaic that have been with the company for so long that they have no idea what is considered good business practices in the current world. Mosaic has little interest in change to improve efficiencies or improve in general. There are few members of management that has what it takes to challenge the status quo. They are often part of the been-there-way-too-long problem.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in fresh blood, especially at your operational divisions. Senior corporate management should be challenging decisions made at the operational management levels to make sure there are sound foundations for the decisions being made. It often seems like the operational management runs the corporate management.

Mediocre company with "Good 'Ol Boy" mentality

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Lithia, FL

I have been working at Mosaic Company (Minnesota)

ProsGood benefits with a strong sense of community in the workplace, large corporation with a medium size company feel.

ConsShort-term thinking, weak middle management, pay for performance formula is easily manipulated, functional silos, many of the issues are typical of a large corporation.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote because of ability to perform at the next level, not because of performance at current level. Peter's Principle is alive and well.
