I have been working at Moscow State University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Dealing with professionals and world-class scientists.
A high-level education that broadens ones mind. It's not What you learn but rather the Way you learn and also that you learn to self-educate efficiently.
Depending on your research supervisor you may acquire valuable international collaboration experience, be sent on a few academic missions to some of the world's best laboratories.
Getting many friend that would succeed in their careers all over the world.
The University is located in one of the best places in Moscow (also very good for sports).

    Cons

Very poor financing and resource base for experimental sciences.
You have to fight your way through all the bureaucracy to get some scarce financing.
The amount of experience, publications and academic missions you'll get depends and the group you're in (or your research supervisor): some are world-class, others are in any way not.
Miserable salary/scholarship at almost all ranks. The only way to survive on your own is to get additional scholarships or participate in grants.

I worked at Moscow State University part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good environment inside the Department and strong education level. Many interesting subjects could be learned and most of them are very useful in further career.

    Cons

As for a student, there is always problem with huge amount of work invested in the homeworks and classes. In Mat Sci department there is a need to make research from the very first year, which is tough.
