I have been working at Motion Industries

    Pros

I started pushing a broom for this company 6 years ago and now I'm working with a high profile corporate account. I'm not pretending this is a standard, in fact it's not, but it brings to light the emphasis this company puts on experience, knowledge, and personality. If you got it, reguardless of your degree, you will do well.

Every branch is treated as its own business and direction and demand tend to be from the local branch up vs. Corp. down.

    Cons

Motion's mantra still seems to be throw every new hire into the fire.

I worked at Motion Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You get weekends and the typical holidays off, there are over 500 locations in the US and a few in Canada if relocation is desirable, the benefits are good, flexible with schedules within reason.

    Cons

It is a highly male driven industry and company which allows for sexual harassment issues however each location is different. Not much training provided if it's your first time in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more performance management evaluations in order to keep turnover down, set employees for success by providing them with useful training. Make sure management does not overstep boundaries and push forward with annual sexual harassment trainings.

I have been working at Motion Industries full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I am going to be completely honest here. I've went to college and well, this is the job I got. I started at the bottom as a warehouse associate and within 2 months I was promoted. Might be a lower percentage in terms of this happening, but it did. I am now a driver for MI. The pay is good, there IS in fact advancement. Anyone who says otherwise probably wouldn't be looked at for said opportunity anyway. Their opinion means nothing.

The hours are NORMAL. Sometimes you are on call, but rarely do you actually have to do anything. If you have to, you get paid time and a half to do so.

Time flies. Every day I never realize what time it is and before I know it, it's time to go home.

There IS OT sometimes. Depending on what needs to be done. It WILL be paid.

The people I work with happen to be lively and keep the day moving.

MONTHLY AND ANNUAL BONUSES. If you as a branch hit your sales goals, you'll be rewarded!

    Cons

The only con is sometimes it is stressful. But what job isn't? As a driver, I am face to face with all the customers. Sometimes the interactions are fine, sometimes not so much. Guess what? I go home and do it again the next day. I don't let it affect me. I guess that is the "con".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I cannot speak for the company as a whole, but at the branch I work for, I'd just like to see a LITTLE more involvement and praise over what we do.

I have been working at Motion Industries

    Pros

Motion offers good career growth opportunities in most areas of the company. It is a strong company with solid leadership overall.

    Cons

The six month waiting period for insurance on new hires seems to be outdated in this age. There is a lack of leadership in some departments - good at managing upward, poor at managing downward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Investigate whether all executives truly share the vision , values and culture of the company. This will require some extra effort to peel layers off of the onion to see what is really happening.

I have been working at Motion Industries full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. Still offers pension and insurance benefits that are affordable.

    Cons

Behind the times with approaches and access to non-sales related training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rare. Often hiring from outside to top non-sales management positions, but without sponsored training for existing employees, it is difficult to update skills and qualify for advancement.
