Pros
A vibrant, execution focused, global community feel, with plenty of opportunity for career progression.
Some excellent middle management (to director level).
Continuously strives to balance business and customer interests, while creating great products.
Cons
Short-term, sometimes narrow minded focus at the expense of longer term prospects/options.
Not really a con, but be aware that high performance is expected and devotion to doing an excellent job.
Advice to Senior Management
Build, communicate, and commit to a longer term vision. This may have helped save some business units that were instead left to die and then sold off.
Pros
There is a wealth of knowledge and mentorship provided by the experienced engineers. There are technically challenging assignments. Work-life balance is pretty good, though some people take advantage of it.
Cons
Promotions are not based on performance but rather everyone gets promoted based on length of service. The under-performing employees are not let go or given less responsibility, rather, everyone is expected to just deal with them.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to keep your technically competent, motivated engineers then provide better visibility to business direction and recognize where real contributions are made.
Pros
The team of peers is very friendly and are fun to work with.
Cons
The management is completely incompetent. Direct management and leads would quit one after another because upper management was so horrible. Expectations were insane and rewards were almost nonexistent. They would offer false promise after false promise to improve work, provide contract to full time employment, but upper management would refuse every time. Everyone is trying to leave that company, even many of the PMs are trying to leave (or already have left.)
Advice to Senior Management
I would advise that management find work elsewhere. Perhaps McDonalds or some other similar place they may be competent enough to work.
Pros
- the laptops provided to work are ok
- free coffe
- beautiful place to walk after the lunch
Cons
- the products and how they are planned to real market really sucks
- horrible management ... several teams trying to push bugs to other teams like each team is a different company.. the manager really sucks, do not understand nothing technically, the ego is very high..
- if you are going to working in a integration team forget you have a life... I worked more than 5 month without weekends and 14 to 16 hours in average per day.
- managers do not have ANY skill as managers.
- technical leader acts as project manager and do not understand nothing about the code and product.
Advice to Senior Management
- try to find a job in a regular restaurant like burger king or mac donald's... you are not managers...
Pros
Good techincal group, good learning environment.
Cons
Disorganized company. Treat employees better.
Advice to Senior Management
Get organized.
Pros
* Work life balance
* Brand value
Cons
* Most Managers are ditching you at the back, selfishly looking only at their promotions always
* No recognition for sincere & right people
* Lot of demotivation happen during appraisal
* Lot of favouritism by manager to people who are personally/regionally close even when those people do not deserve
* Many people career get spoiled because of the personal agenda of Managers
Advice to Senior Management
Do an anonymous intelligent Survey your Managers with feedback from individual employees.
An more importantly take action on the survey results.
Pros
Used to be a place to learn and be proud to work, and for several years it gave-me the training and the tools to work and do my best.
Cons
Lack of commitment of the senior management with the employees, lots of micro-management and politics preventing people to really perform.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to the technical staff and review the HR policies which are from the last century at minimum
Pros
Benefits package was good, onsite gym, onsite day care facility, on site cafeteria (poor food though). Fairly good central location.
Cons
Constant fear of being laid off.
Lack of communication from Senior Management to employees.
Management making decisions to lay people off yet still flying their corporate jets and spending frivolously on their own personal enjoyment.
Dull monotonous environment lacking in inspiration
Advice to Senior Management
It would be good for the senior managers to BE SEEN to be making some sacrifices themselves personally. It still seems like they enjoy the good life while laying off people and cutting back benefits etc.
Pros
Great tradition for radio and semiconductor
Cons
no future in the semi conductor field
Pros
Work Life Balance
Learn new technologies
Great peer level colleagues
Cons
Inept senior management
Lots of politics in headquarters
Frequent re-organizations.
Advice to Senior Management
Forget reorganization politics and get some actual work done.
