I worked at Motorola Mobility (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great products, great innovation and lots of good culture brought over from Google.

    Cons

Miniscule marketing budget inhibits awareness and driving purchase intent of the killer products. Very competitive space and not sure they have the funding to see this through.

I have been working at Motorola Mobility full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In short the people that work along side of you make it all with while. For the most part teams are very close and in my case my direct leader was great. The senior leadership team has a lot of knowledge/history of the company's journey, which comes in handy sometimes.

    Cons

There is some major restructuring going on with this company right now. They laid off ~500 employees recently. The layoffs were not targeting any particular group so it's kind of an unsettling place to be right now.

    Advice to Management

Quit while you're ahead. The new parent company is not listening or looking at whatever your attempting to do. At this point your talents can/should be used elsewhere. If you can regroup with some new, fresh talent.

    Pros

Good engineering discipline. Very few mgt levels. Running lean.

    Cons

Decision making not always transparent. Life balance was lacking due to wireless industry demands.

    Advice to Management

    Keep an open mind.

They are loosing their grip on the market. Apple is taking over the market accordingly

    Advice to Management

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, great stock options, and great vacation package. Casual atmosphere (sometimes a select few take casual to a new meaning). Flexible schedules.

    Cons

There were a few cons however — the company likes to keep a lot of contractors, this creates some trepidation over job security. Sometimes, you are stuck with projects you dislike while others get easier, more fun projects to work on.

    Advice to Management

Allow the employees to rate your upper management and understand what kind of people are working (term used loosely) as your representatives of the Phoenix facility. I think that there would be a lot of raised eyebrows when the management sees how they are viewed by their reports. This would go as far as a review of plant manager (however, there are too many people who are 'yes men' and only care about their personal growth).

I worked at Motorola Mobility full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Hard to think of any

    Cons

Terrible management. No VPs ever get fired for making big mistakes. Horrid HR policies. If you apply for an internal job that is a grade higher than yours, they do NOT give you that higher grade! They say they will "consider it" but it NEVER happens. Current CEO Rick O was the genius who created BLUR. He thought it was a good idea to make you SIGN IN to your own phone!
