Pros
reasonable pay, good location, slow pace, low living costing nearby but no good entertainment either. overall good for old people.
Cons
no promotion for a long time. not good for young people. management is OK but too much bureaucracy in the company
Advice to Senior Management
no advice. now we are waiting for the change from google. it gotta be good otherwise we have to leave.
Pros
new technolgy, changes all the time Motorola is changing dramamtically to what it used to be when GI sold it. Set tops was the world and they had monoply, that's not rue today with competition from everywhere hence thy have to reduce costs dramatically to keep competitive
Cons
lay offs haapen every year no matter what they sayb, they say they are, but each year more lay offs and we alwyas make a profit and achioeve all goals and targets
Advice to Senior Management
be more concerned about your people, they say they are, but each year more lay offs and we alwyas make a profit and achioeve all goals and targets
Pros
Good working relationships among peers & co-workers. Developing trust first was key. Pay was significantly above average for similar positions elsewhere in the marketplace. Management is flexible with altered work schedules, work-from-home, PTO, so long as work gets done. PTO is very liberal (one lot of days for personal, sick, and vacation time) especially after 8 plus years of service.
Cons
Much change has occurred since the era of Sanjay Jha and his management influence. Layoffs hit hard and deep over the past few years separating a lot of talent with many years of service. Sense of teamwork and cooperation has been replaced with more of a 'knowledge is power' approach, closely guarded to keep one's job.
Pros
Challenging, Educating, Flexible, Chance to lead, Satisfactory
Cons
Monetary benefits not as comparable to similar tech companies
Pros
Cant speak for the Mobility side of Motorola. But the Government solutions or Motorola Solutions that I work for is a GREAT company.
- Love the independence and freedom to manage strategy and success of my accounts and all aspects of work, with plenty of guidance when needed.
- Day to day work with highest levels of state and local government
- Working towards public safety and the common good
- Great Voice of the Customer attention
- Solid senior management vision
Cons
- Poor pay
- Multiple layers of middle management.
- Poor middle management. In my experience they are the biggest roadblocks to
a) getting business done on a daily basis
b) getting ahead in the company
Advice to Senior Management
Urgent need to address pricing / feature structure to stay competitive. America is hurting, our customers use tax payer money to buy our products. They need to make wise financial decisions, they cant buy our Cadillac if the Hyundai is going to get them to the same place for cheap.
Pros
Financial stability of the company is very encouraging
Cons
Restructuring changes influence culture of the company
Advice to Senior Management
be more innovative
Pros
My internship at Motorola was a great networking experience, and a perfect taste of corporate life. The environment is relaxed and friendly and the employee culture is diverse.
Cons
Due to acquisitions of many small companies the internal IT systems are vast and sporadic, and often data must be double-checked and pulled from several sources. Jobs which could be done by computers are left to being done by human hands, increasing error and frustration. However, despite this setback, the IT department is making significant progress toward concise and long-term solutions.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in a strong internal IT department, bring designers into the development of software.
Pros
Work environment is good, you get a chance to work on advanced technologies.
over all its good work here
Cons
Not transparent to the employees
Advice to Senior Management
It should be transparent
Pros
Very flexible work schedule with the ability to work at home often
Cons
Managers who are more focused on politics and their own survival or advancement than creating good products or a good working atmosphere for the employees
Advice to Senior Management
There have been many layoffs of engineers and software developers, there are many incompetent middle managers who are still employed and should not be.
Pros
Its a good established company with a great reputation. Great salary and looks good on a resume. Good interesting work.
Cons
Repetitive work. It is very laid back and there is never much work but there are times when the amount is work is too much.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership at Motorola is fairly good. My immediate manager was an excellent person. Overall the management has good regard for the well being of its employees.
