Pros
working environment is not bad
Cons
a broader vision, getting things done
Advice to Senior Management
product is crucial. give concsumers what they want
Pros
Motorola has good brand recognition with a strong brand following. There is room for growth with the success of Android as a viable platform which Motorola should be able to leverage well. If you take the time to network, there are some great people and resources in Motorola.
Cons
Office politics are very important at Motorola often deciding who stays, who leaves, who gets promoted and who doesn't. I've seen the good ones let lose while those doing things not in the company's best interest, kept on.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't rely on quick studies to see what is going on. Ask the people on the ground and more importantly, ask your real customers (wholesalers, distributors and partners) who is doing the job. Listen to the different market's feedback and do light customization for them instead of the 'one-size fits all' mentality.
Pros
Company is great for work life balance.
Cons
Managers who know nuts about technology and business teams who place wrong bets on product developments. Projects were canned a few months after starting due to lack of business insights, thus wasting resources.
Advice to Senior Management
Layoff is demoralising the current staff. Do something to keep up their morale or good and competent people will leave the company.
Pros
Great benefits & pay structure for managers & above. Rewards well for good performance.
Cons
Lack of clear direction by Senior Management on the mobile devices business. Loss of no. 2 spot to Samsung & loss money as a result.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to quickly find a solution out of the mobile devices business slump & re-capture the no.2 spot from Samsung.
