I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Ability to work from home, vacation or paid time off starts at 4 weeks for developers. Healthy training budget, training gets approved fairly easily. Interesting projects. Ability to work with teams from all over the world who are technically sharp and competent.

    Cons

The company should invest in newer technologies and lead the market on innovations. Why the company hasn't invested more on Artificial Intelligence when it already has all the know how for voice processing and the ability to attract talent. The company should invest in drones, robotics, AI, wearable electronics for public safety.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in newer technologies and lead the market on innovations. Bring in new employees and lead the market again.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Promotional opportunities every 1 1/2 to 2 years on average, worked with some of the best people out there, benefits good - more vacation time than average, flexibility to work from home when needed.

    Cons

Motorola has changed so much over the past 15 years that it's not the same company I started with - went thru so many rounds of layoffs which can make for a stressful working environment at times. There are fewer rotational opportunities so people get stuck in the same jobs.

I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time

    Pros

Great corporate structure with intent to be proactive on change required to sustain and attract talent while minimizing $ spent.

    Cons

Company continues to downsize which is concerning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is very concerning to many that the company is positioning itself - the question is positioning for what - it would be great to see some growth in the company vs. the downsizing.

I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexibility/work life balance is very good. I had a great team which was the main reason why I was there. It was a fun group. I developed great relationships and the team was very smart and talented. I am frequently impressed by my teams ability to deliver and meet challenging goals. This makes me proud to be apart of that team.

    Cons

The promotion criteria isn't the same for everyone. Some people are promoted based on accomplishments. Others are promoted based on potential and no accomplishments. Others are promoted based on tenure. Other's aren't promoted at all. It is well known that you have to leave the company to move up. Also the company is making SO MANY fast and quick changes such as selling divisions, manufacturing facilities, real estate, and massive layoffs every quarter. It can be really scary working their day to day with no feeling of stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote everyone using the same measure. Solicit input from your team. Just because they are not at your level or in your position doesn't mean they can't provide business insight. When they offer new ideas, don't just boldly toss it to the wind, as if they don't have a clue. Because believe it or not, they do.

    Pros

Great culture of teamwork and training for employee development

    Cons

Corporatized culture stopped treating people as people and started treating them as resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to caring about people and investing in them as people not resources.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nice people to work with; great PTO policy and other work-life balances

    Cons

80-90s style of management; and need to have fresh blood and faster speed of moving at things,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the ratio of VPs to employees; we are extremely TOP HEAVY and no room for lower ranks to rise up.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Interesting and stable work and good people to work with. Excellent work/life balance in engineering.

    Cons

The company has shrunk from 150k+ to under 15k in the last 20 years. The uncertainty can cast gloom over the work environment. Less advancement opportunities in a shrinking environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to and promote your engineers more. There is too much disconnect between upper management and engineering.

I worked at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Good Cultural value.
    Good Benefits
    Industry average salary

    Cons

It was difficult to see Motorola to go down like this. Lack of energy at senior leadership level. They didn't invest money to new technology and services. SLT always worry about their personal gain by selling pieces. overall, good cultural value. After getting company smaller and smaller, moral was low and difficult to maintain personal growth. It was difficult to see this big loss.
