Former Employee – worked at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Salary is good. Vacation allowance is good. Great engineering talent pool.
Cons – Benefits were premier up to 5 years ago but declined to meet industry standards. This included medical benefits, bonuses, and stock options. Pension contributions stopped a few years ago. Merit pay stopped a few years ago to allow the industry to catch up. Some engineers were re-graded lower. There were seven sectors a decade ago, now it's down to just one.
Advice to Senior Management – Greg Brown needs to go before he sells MSI.

Former Employee – worked at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great engineering tradition. Even as the company withers away, there is great talent. I grew up in that environment, and although I have moved on, I realize I took for granted the talent of the people around me. It's much less outside the walls of Motorola.
Cons – Management. Just like anywhere else. It turns out, people are hard to manage. Unfortunately, through relative performance assessments, layoffs, and other bungling of senior managers, the company is beyond repair. There is no way to move up or work on anything different.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep trying. Innovate again. Draw the people you've chased out back in. Promote the people that have stuck it out all these years and let them have a chance.

Cons – Older company, not much of innovations and opportunities to grow. Management protects their positions and suppress lower level employee to promotions. It's a political game and you need to know how to play.
