    Pros

Pay was great and products were excellent

    Cons

Upper management kept tweaking the structure and product mix. There were lots of games going on near the top and there was no sharing of marketplaces because of corporate infighting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Now that Zebra has bought it there will not be any interference from the radio management and everything will be smoothed out.

I worked at Motorola Solutions as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Good people
    -Challenging projects
-Lots of new things to learn and apply.
    -Work from home policy
    -Result oriented management

    Cons

    - Constant reorgs
    - Layoffs
    - No new projects coming along
If someone takes a leave for a week or so, colleagues assume the person is going to California for interviewing at other companies.
Also, since they sell off most of the parts of the company constantly, there is a really small part left with Motorola Solutions and it is not a growing market.

I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company pays what I'd expect on average and has average health benefits.
The employee stock purchase plan is typical for the type and is a great tool.
The company offers pretty good work-life balance. I have the opportunity to telecommute as necessary.
The people are enjoyable to work with overall. However, between groups there can be a lot of politics and in fighting.

    Cons

There are too many silos. That was the way of the old company and must go away.
The work is not very challenging.
There are not many opportunities for promotion or advancement.
The software development is behind the times as far as technology and methodology goes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Breakdown the walls and inspire the employees.
Get out of the hardware mindset
Bring in some fresh minds and fresh perspectives.
