Pros
Normal work for programmers who know Java
Cons
Could be boring at times and not challenging
Pros
Co-workers are nice, "worker-bees" are very team focused and helpful
Flexibility with your schedule when needed
Good location and office perks
Cons
Very poor executive leadership and management
Execs and management cannot make decisions
Company acts so secretive and does not share any information
Execs would rather have employees just sit around doing nothing for months instead of making a decision and direction for the company
Way too many director level types that are not "directing" anything
Behind in all areas of technology - no way to catch up
With all of the uncertainty, the company does not care about the employees anymore - making some very poor choices as far as the employees are concerned
Good talent is all leaving
Advice to Senior Management
You are too late to the game. Make the hard decisions, get a plan, and execute. 6+ months with NO execution, you should be ashamed for cashing your big fat paychecks.
Pros
-some repute in the mobile data space
-pay is nice
-Tech teams is treated with lot of care
-office is nice
Cons
- ability to listen & adjust to market dynamics is completely absent
- rate of innovation & implementation is very slow
- teams lack sense of direction
- lack of leadership & focus
- Product focus is lacking
- works more as a services organisation than a product focused one.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn from competition, learn from your mistakes. Guide & hand hold your team so that they function as one unit.
Share info. live by what you say.
Recruit the right resources if you really wanna march ahead in this domain
Pros
Great team of people to work with, was industry best, the technical team was able to pull off installation of new Data Centers in Asia Pacific Plenty of good talents from Telecommunications arena.
Cons
Due to recent issue with executives, more and more of the talents have either been disappointed or disenfranchised with the low stock performance that there is hardly incentive to keep good talent or attracting new talent. Looks likely to be sold.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to rebuild character, establish good code and context, and find better directions instead of just relying on recently purchased company. Need products that will last in today's mobile world instead of implementation only on older phones.
Pros
good if you like doing just 9 to 5 job and forget rest
Cons
lack of product vision.
Company needs to redefine its strategy between mobile market solutions and advertising.
no real pioneer in product vision.
Too many procedure oriented and politics
Advice to Senior Management
Have vision of product
Pros
Some very good people to work with
Good location, easy commute
Good perks, benefits
Salary is ok
Cons
Lack of leadership and accountability erodes job satisfaction
No direction
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out what direction you want and follow it
VP and Director Management levels need housecleaning
Pros
The rank and file are good people, who are enthusiastic about life and are genuinely talented. They make coming to work each day worthwhile.
Cons
Massive layoffs, insecure leadership, and apathy abound. Zero chance for career growth. Zero recognition. Several of the management team contribute NOTHING and actively work to stay away from their employees. In three years I had exactly TWO face to face meetings with my manager. One senior manager was so out of touch he no longer knew what technology platforms we were using or what projects were being worked on. He cost the company tens of thousands, yet they promoted him.
Upper management has giant egos and is far more interested in lining their own pockets than in building a sustainable and successful long term company.
Advice to Senior Management
Shame on you! You have nothing to be proud of. Just know that you'll you're not immune to the unannounced layoffs or "collapsed positions." Next week could be your last.
Pros
- Good commute
- Nice buildings
- nice people
Cons
- Disorganized
- Unskilled management
- No sense of direction
Advice to Senior Management
The quality of a product is a reflection of its management. Get more organized.
Pros
What you do matters in this fast pased environment.
Cons
Typical small company chaos, nothing unexpected though.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing because it is working.
Pros
The best reason to work at Motricity is the ability to work in the mobile industry. Mobile is very exciting and changing everyday, which offers interesting business and technology challenges.
Cons
Because Motricity's business is driven by a few, large customers, there is a big focus on custom solutions for these clients' short term needs.
Advice to Senior Management
Motricity should remember that the most important investment you have is in your people, the intellectual captial, at the company.
