Current Employee – been working at Mountain States Health as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – The hospital system is a great one to work for. I have had experience at both Indian Path Medical Center and The Johnson City Medical Center. Both have a family/team atmosphere. The organization stresses Patient Satisfaction and complete care (mind, body, and spirit). The system offers a wide range of services from Behavioral Health to Pediatrics.
Cons – A great deal of stress is currently being placed on department management.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue asking your department managers for their input and advice and trust in their advice as they are the ones on the front lines.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Cons – All call almost half the month, no infinitives, don't care about their staff, get travel check late all the time
Advice to Senior Management – Make staff feel they are important, give infinitives for hard work

Current Employee – been working at Mountain States Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Lots of opportunities for different jobs. Busy hospital with high acuity, hires new graduate nurses. Good people, nice southern hospitality.
Cons – Wages not very competitive. Strange management changes over the past year. High turnover rate for nursing staff, staff seem unhappy and overworked.
Advice to Senior Management – Retaliation behavior in management seems to be commonplace. Clique hiring in nursing management is prevalent which leads to the high turnover and staff burn out rates.

Current Employee – been working at Mountain States Health full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Semi-secure for the area and opportunities for advancement. You can get some great experience on your résumé here.
Cons – Long hours for less than average pay. A lot of emphasis on the importance of IT with a work environment that does not entice IT professionals to stay long term.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat IT like IT and clinical like clinical.
– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Mountain States Health full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – MSHA allowed for me to begin training as an RN before every graduating. I was able to complete a 3 step Nurse Intern program (paid) while in school with a competitive above minimium wage pay. MSHA paid for me to go to nursing school in exchange for a 3 year contract.
Cons – It is difficult to get started with some seasoned veterns as a new graduate. If you are skilled enough to be hired into a specialty area one must fight for validation.

Former Employee – worked at Mountain States Health full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The offices were clean and there was coffee.
Cons – The job is so boring. There is little to no human interaction unless you are not doing your job. The training was mimimal to say the least. There are 40 different programs to do the work through and they are not tied to one another so the productivity is low.
Advice to Senior Management – Change up the environment some. Invest in a computer program that will access all records rather than have 40 different ones just to look up accounts.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Mountain States Health full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – lot of options to transfer within the company. Vision and dental insurance are good. Small match with the 401k
Cons – Poor raises, 2% yearly. Health insurance has HUGE deductible and nothing seems to be eligible toward the deductible.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your employees as well as we are trained to treat our patients. Raises should performance based.
