I have been working at Mr X full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very talented people to work with, great location, frequent social events.

    Cons

This is nothing unique but working in VFX you inevitably end up doing over time without compensation.

I worked at Mr X as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked as a student intern in my last year of post production education, and I really caught a glimpse how the industry is, and fell in love with the environment.

    Cons

The only down side I could think of, wasn't really a fault to mr.x, it was just my internship was only a month long, and it felt too short for me.

I worked at Mr X full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good projects to work on, and generally good production artists on team.

    Cons

High turnover. Working on holidays. Hard to get time off. The only way to get compensated for working holidays was to get the legally obligated payout upon resignation. Peoples reviews were constantly delayed to put off issuing raises the employee would be expecting. There was low morale the entire time I was there. As mentioned above there was a Mafioso management style that had a lot of people fearful for their jobs much more than anywhere I have ever worked before or since. I remember a very senior person at the studio referring to employees as Cattle while I was there.

A very mixed experience, good projects but an old school harsh management style.

I have been working at Mr X

    Pros

    Good projects, variety of work

    Cons

Harsh and critical management, little positive feedback, only negative
Mr X has sometimes averaged almost a 50% per year employee turnover, excessive even in this industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unless this studio changes it's work culture, it will remain on the B-team. Mr X could be a better studio and a bigger studio, but historically has not been able to hold on to core talent. To get to the next level, Mr X needs to reinvent itself.

    I worked at Mr X

    Pros

    - Good people trying their hardest made for a good team vibe.
    - Fun projects if you like horror movies.

    Cons

    - People crying in the studio on a weekly basis is not good for moral.
    - Despite constant growth, there is a very high turn around of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take it easy on the artists! Everyone wants to help, it could be a really great studio with just some small tweaks.

    I worked at Mr X

    Pros

    - you got paid
    - you got vacation days
    - you got sick days

    Cons

    - lots of politic involved
    - lots of backstabbing among employers
    - long hours + beyond (no after hours pay)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try appreciate and balance out what employers did. After all it's the artists that actually did the works.
