I have been working at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands

    Pros

Had some great people, enjoyable culture for the most part. Enjoyed the work (Corporate Office), work-life balance was great.

    Cons

Tough place to be in management, zero loyalty to employees, layoffs were fairly common. Owners (Priv Equity) 100% money driven. Uprooted the corporate office to Denver, then fired over 50 in less than 2 years.

    Cons

Management doesn't do there jobs, hostile environment, not enough training

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do you're job instead of making your employees do it for you. Answer your phone when we call, chances are we need your help. Train everyone properly.

I worked at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-It has two brands (TCBY and Mrs. Fields) that have a lot of brand history and potential if they can be resurrected.
-Newer headquarters in a nice suburb north of Denver.
    -Relatively good work/life balance.
    -Salaries were typically competitive.
    -Free cookies and froyo!

    Cons

-The company has struggled to recover from its 2008 bankruptcy and has suffered significant turnover in recent years.
-It has had very little consistency in key leadership positions including 6 CEO's in less than 10 years.
-Much of its institutional knowledge was lost when it relocated from Salt Lake City to Denver.
-Its brands have struggled to remain relevant.
-It has suffered from major store closures in recent years on both brands.
-Benefits were just average and 401k wasn't offered as of Dec. 2014.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company really needs strong leadership and consistency at the C-level.

    Pros

Complete lack of culture. Executives know little but can't admit it. Don't let those that know their field soar. Overall - management is completely to blame for the company failing.

    Cons

Lies. Poor incentives. Lack of knowledgable leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Step down. Allow the brilliant minds of the company to do their jobs.

I have been working at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The cookies smell great and the turnover is so high there's always the prospect of moving up the ladder, whether you're capable or not.

    Cons

Culture - Everyone knows it's a problem, but it's what we know. We're more comfortable with low morale than the thought of doing what it takes to fix it.

Promote from within - Sounds great until you realize nobody here has the real world skills to fulfill the job they've been given and that all the real talent left or was run out years ago. Most left don't have related educations and few have work experience outside this company.

Prices are too high - Nobody wants to pay $3 for a cookie through the mail, but we're locked in to those prices because we've sold out to our partners who are our only real source of revenue.

Ownership - The ownership group places a priority on getting their money back. Not product quality, not employee happiness, nothing else. This leads to a cut throat environment where everyone is doing what they can to not be in the next round of cost savings and makes attempts at team and morale building a joke - even with those organizing them. "Go along to get along" will not get this company out of the mess it's in, but it does ensure they will get a lot of work out of us for as little as they can pay.
