I worked at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Constant change creates a need to learn as you go. Fields was a great place to develop your skills on the fly.

    Cons

Constant leadership changes and no personal development plans made it hard to know what the expectations were and if you were doing a good job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help your employees develop trust and a sense of empowerment through teamwork and accomplishment. Dont take for granted the skillset of each individual. Collectively you can win as long as the good times are plentiful and the bad times not ignored.

    Pros

Fantastic products, wonderful industry & Job training programs, exciting and challenging work environment, competitive salary, Very helpful & knowledgable Corporate support staff in Salt Lake City, excellent potential for career longevity,

    Cons

holiday and weekends hours often necessary in my position due to demanding retail industry, Often excessive travel for my position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More 'Regular Consistant" involvement from District/Area Business Consultants would be beneficial rather than 1 or 2x a year. In 8 yrs with the company I hardly ever saw ours at any of our locations. I strongly feel that infrequent contact & visits from business consultants make it very difficult for them to adequately & fairly evaluate a stores weaknesses and strengths and to be able to make a positive contribution assiting them properly.

    Pros

Free cookies and independence from constant supervision. They were good at building schedules around school times and giving time off when requested. Uniforms were provided without having to buy them.

    Cons

More than expected manual labor for minimum wage. Not appreciated by management. Training was inadequate and product information had to be learned on your own. Very little room for advancement or raises, 25 cent raise at the most, usually after at least 6 months of working.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More praise and feedback for exceeding responsibilities. Better training materials. Designation of Team leader would be helpful especially when you are the only worker over 16.

I worked at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands

    Pros

If you are in high school and are looking for a job Mrs. Fields is a great alternative to the usual fast food. You get to work in an air conditioned mall, eat all the cookies you could ever want ( they get old fast though ). My hours were very flexible, and I got a few raises.

    Cons

Upper management can be a pain. Too easy on some people ( let people off wasily when they do something wrong ). The pay is decent, minimum or a little above. The workplace is a ton of fun but when you're stuck closing alone 4 days a week it can get boring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what your employees/coworkers have to say. Enforce the rules.

    Pros

Great Brand. Company culture is fairly laid back, and people are fun to work with

    Cons

Beauracracy gets in the way sometimes. Things that shouldn't take long to decide and discuss take much longer than they should.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great place to work. Thank you for all you do.
