I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smart, hardworking co-workers who are very friendly. I get great direction from my supervisor without being micromanaged. Management is always looking to the future of the industry. Excellent IT infrastructure and cutting edge technology. Patient care constantly reinforced as the priority and the nurses and providers embody this. The people here really do care. Top notch benefits. I really like the food at the cafeteria!

    Cons

The hospitals are fantastic but some of the buildings for shared support services are older. Challenging environment right now with changes (but that could be applied to the entire healthcare and hospital industry).

    Advice to Management

Some more town hall style meetings with employees would help everyone to feel that they are an important stakeholder.

    Pros

Loved working at Multicare, loved my job, just the times were changing as with the cost company reductions came everything was different.

    Cons

The work was great, co-workers not so much, be careful who you get to know and don't trust anyone even if they are your friend.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees before they pull the wool over your eyes.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to respect your employees under you and not trying to act like management is giving you your check from there bank acct, know how to talk to them and not down talk to them

I worked at MultiCare Health System (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, collaboration between departments, experience in a fast paced environment, opportunity for growth, excellent educational opportunity. Working with patients and endeavoring to assist in their health and overall well-being was a positive life changing experience. Team work a necessity, feels like you gain a second family.

    Cons

A lot of cutbacks, and lack of consistency. Increase of double the work for half the pay, old employees fired while younger newer employees hired in order to cut costs. Employees very overworked in turn affecting moral and motivation within department. Transparency very limited, management within particular departments not often present.

    Advice to Management

Cutting costs is important but can affect company morale and dramatically impact productivity and loyalty. A concerted effort should be made to improve morale within Multicare facilities after the major budget cuts made throughout 2014-15. Poor morale can lead to poor patient care which goes against the organizational goals Multicare professes to uphold.

I worked at MultiCare Health System (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The talented people who care about what they do and patient care. Continuing education. The salaries are very competetive. Work family culture. Employees work very hard.

    Cons

Politics among leadership at the cost of other's jobs and outsourcing many areas. Supposedly all in the name of patient care, but patient satisfaction scores do not improve and organization continues to have the highest pricing and costs in the state

    Advice to Management

If you truly want to provide the best services and patient care, discontinue outsourcing and handing local jobs to others. Invest in your people, they are your most valuable resource. There has been 100% employee and customer dissatisfaction with the services every outsourcing company to date has provided.

I have been working at MultiCare Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent-sized company with potential of lateral transfers.

    Cons

Don't you dare get any funny ideas about standing up for yourself if you work here. This company will find a way to get rid of you, in any way possible. They don't want good work ethics, great customer service skills or reliability. They only care about hiring a body to do the job for the smallest pay possible. They will keep employees who are outwardly racist, prejudiced, rude and reckless (even in the face of patient complaints) - as long as they are "in" with the manager. There is also a very high turnover rate and very low morale.

    Advice to Management

If you want long-term growth and success, pay better attention to hiring and retaining good quality, patient-focused staff. Pay the extra buck-per-hour to that experienced person instead of laying them all off to be replaced by outsourced companies or people who only show up for a paycheck.
