I learned a lot about the meaning of life and how to save one.

    Supervisor (Former Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsThe people who work there are hard working people, but are still willing to put aside what they're doing to help you out. The hours were great. Everyone was as professional as possible.

ConsSometimes miscommunication between departments. Which at times made things a little harder than they needed to be.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think if they went to a 12 hour rotation schedule it may help out. I think they operators will feel they have more time off to recuperate from all the hours they have been working. I feel they will work harder for you for 2-3 days than they will if they had to work 5-6 days in a roll. You will have less accidents and they will focus more on what they are doing.

Sadly, not what it use to be.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsCoworkers who care about each other. Coworkers who believe in the integrity, and quality of their jobs.

ConsToo many employees from Rutgers University. Mid level managers are disrespectful to any one who is not at their level or beneath them. Department directors need to question the motives of the Supervisors/Managers under them. HR needs to be more apathetic to the little guy. In general this is a place that starts off well, but declines overtime due to the personalities of the people in charge.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis company use to be a great company. It use to be a lot of fun to work at MTF, but it seems to have taken a turn a few years back. I believe when the layoffs started, they decided to downsize each department by a certain percentage, and apply more pressure to people to either do more, or get out. This in essence is a bad idea because you lose a lot of quality workforce (High & low level), and after spending years of training to get those workers to an optimum level you then lay them off.

Great company with a good vision and cutting edge medical advancements

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsThis company has a solid mission statement to help the greater good in the medical field. It has paved the way for tissue banking procedures and innovations with hard work and high standards. I'm proud of what MTF does for the community. They uphold the donor gift and generously support many great causes.

ConsThere is no opportunity for career growth. Young, smart ambitious workers are not given incentives to move upward in their career and end up leaving for better opportunities. Many employees who have been there for decades are complacent and just show up for the paycheck. Some old ideas mainly stemming from the veterans there need to be refreshed. Pay is low compared to industry standards.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire some new blood and offer them opportunity for growth. Create a mentoring program and offer training to teach the old dogs some new tricks and increase efficiency. Trim the fat from HR and unnecessary spending and give a decent cost of living increase annually.

    Great Company! Amazing Cause!

    Intern (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsFriendly work environment, helpful and welcoming co-workers. Decent hourly pay. GREAT CAUSE!

    ConsNot many job opportunities available

Advice to Senior ManagementShould offer employee development programs for recent graduates like some of the other larger companies do (i.e. Stryke, Johnson & Johnson).

Extremely interesting project however not a great place for entry level

Associate Engineer (Former Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsCutting edge technology and varied options for project involvement
    Knowledgeable project managers
Hours are reasonable with overtime pay for entry levels

ConsLimited to no career growth, co-op are treated like temp technicians rather than engineers
Limited structure and no real incentive to stay with company
Pay is not competitive with industry averages

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a more attractive environment for entry level workers such that they do not leave for better offers.
No options given to define career path, only interaction is with manager whom may or may not be effective depending of department

More work than you can handle, so skip lunches.

    Research (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

    ProsNice people
Work environment has a family atmosphere
    In general, good benefits.

ConsManagement in the Research Department needs training. They have no backbone , when problems arise they tend to blame the people under them. Not a great place to work if you are use to being respected. Most times the PhD Supervisors treat the interns, and coworkers like children. Here's the rub: Some of the Supervisors are the same age as the coworkers. Also, they have a tendency to hire only people from Rutgers. Which is weird. So, in summary: Nice place, weird people.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize you are not more Superior, than the people you hire. Even though you believe that. You work for a great company, but are ruining the reputation of the Department with petty egos, and off the wall ideas. Stop wasting the companies money.

    Worthy Cause, disappointing work experience

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

ProsGreat cause- it's work you can feel good about, and most everyone does.
    great benefits- even after cuts.
supportive and professional co-workers reduce stress.

ConsHigh workload- the attitude is get more done with less people, less time, less pay/benefit and don't question it, probably like many companies. There definitely is a threatened job environment right now and no-one's reassuring the general workers.
NO transparency about ongoing issues, root causes of cuts, plans for the future, details of recent changes. Nothing- just weird political spin.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't bring people in expecting a small family company mentality and then treat them like worker bees. Big company or little one. Make a decision. Offer more management training and check HR. I hear problems stem from there.

    Overwhelmed with workload

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Edison, NJ

    ProsInteresting product line
    good benefits
    professional atmosphere

    ConsRun like an army camp.
Middle & upper management not on a friendly basis with professional employees who are mainly supervisors, technicians and coordinators.
Managers write you up for the smallest things that are questionable in many instances and 3 strikes and you're out the door.
Told by upper management that they're also afraid for their jobs and won't back an employee no matter how hard you work
Place is kept extremely understaffed and company buzz word is "Are you overwhelmed with the work load?" Everybody is, and attitudes suffer because of it.
Employees in some departments monitored for performance on a MONTHLY basis to keep pressure on them.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat employees like human beings.
Restructure the performance reviews which are detrimental as presently done.
Hire more people and stop overworking employees, threatening their jobs and treating them like dogs. Presently you need to bring a cot and set it up in your cubicle, but you won't get paid for living there.
