    Great Staff

    Advisor Intern (Former Employee)
    Minneapolis, MN

ProsGreat office culture that allowed for strong professional development. Learned vital cold customer service skills including cold-calling and financial planning knowledge. Everyone is very supportive.

ConsNeed to have a passion for the insurance industry. Upper management provides supports, but person needs to be a self-starter and innovative. The job demands a certain type of personality. It is tough to get off the ground.

    Slow-Paced IT Environment, Excellent Management

    Programmer/Analyst (Former Employee)
    Omaha, NE

    ProsExtremely well-managed IT environment.
    Friendly and professional work environment
Excellent handoff between BAs, Development and Testing
Extremely mature SDLCs both in the IFS division (Agile) and Group (Agilefall).
Organizational change is almost purely grassroots. (Very little top-down management.)

Work/Life balance was pretty amazing. I'm often reminded about how family-friendly the company is. (Remember, this CAN vary by manager, but I'd had 5 as I shifted around the IT organization and had great experiences.)

ConsCareer development is snails' paced. Years employed counts for more than demonstrated ability.

When I left they were also trying to lock down access to things like Maven Central without providing an internal replacement.

You have no access rights to your own machine--you are prevented from installing any tool that requires installation. (As a developer, this is basically hamstringing.)

Work from home access is manager-dependent.

Enterprise Architecture very open to new ideas, but since everything goes grassroots you'll be expected to champion your cause.
This means that by nature, the company is slow to adapt to technological change.

The company is big enough to have a specialist for everything, so pretty much expect to be an expert in your area and that's pretty much all you'll do. This could be a pro, but I'm a control freak and I like to be involved with everything.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you baselined minimum raises to market-rate for Software Engineers instead of allocating $x to give raises among all a manager's, you might actually keep some people. The only reason I left was because of money.

No growth potential for sales assistants

    Sales Assistant (Former Employee)

ProsAbility to learn the ins and outs of RFPs and quoting as it relates to insurance

ConsNo formal training, no growth potential for sales assistants. Once you do that, you're stuck doing that

Advice to Senior ManagementSeek potential from the sales assistants

    Insurance representative

    Insurance Representative (Former Employee)
    Parsippany, NJ

ProsIf you are naive new agent this is the perfect job for you. You will be left unsupervised with no assistance and will make zero dollars.

ConsYou are promised training and a base salary which do not exist. Training consists of working in the field with other agents, you set the appointments and have to split the commissions.

    Dysfunctional

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBeing in midtown, you are close to a lot of things to do. You'll often see groups of employees at the bar/happy hour.

ConsThe environment is one where the best leaders are the best followers. Transparency is rare, politics are heavy, and trust is low. As a result, there is extreme team dysfunction at the highest level of leadership that is passed down to the masses, creating a punishing and fearful culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe courageous! Get heathy! Be real!

DO NOT WORK HERE! THIS IS A SCAM!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsNone, this was the worst experience of my life.

ConsThey don't give you any guidance or training, everyone lies to you about having free leads and I left the company with over $1000 in debt because they gave me leads and did not say anything about how much they cost. They also have been charging me for any policies I signed up that were cancelled. They give you a "mentor" and then they don't do anything to help you, even when it is straight commission and I was not experienced in the field. The business model was so pathetic that the branch I worked at was totally shut down a week after I left. This is the worst company ever, I repeat DO NOT WORK HERE!
