Pros
Nice people. Reasonable workload. Nice location in SF financial district.
Cons
Well below market rate compensation. Extremely poor management team. No advancement potential.
Advice to Senior Management
Clean house in the exec suite. Pay more so you can get and keep better people. Consider trying to innovate rather than just launching me-too projects that never succeed in order to "check the box."
Pros
Casual dress code/office environment, work from home opportunities, good office equipment (most employees are provided laptops and use double monitors, ergonomic chars), free Peet's/Starbucks coffee, a decent place to get a few years experience and move on
Cons
Very few advancements opportunities, almost a 1:1 ratio of mid-management to employees (IL office), utter silence in office, most communication is done via email, HR instructs managers to purposefully lower your ratings in employee reviews so they don't have to pay out higher bonus percentages, extreme disrespect to lower level employees from mid-management, tension between SF office and IL office, refusal to upgrade the company's business model...no one wants 20 emails a day, promotions are based on favoritism and hiring is based on referrals (even if the person is not at all qualified)
Advice to Senior Management
Clean house of superfluous mid-management positions and listen to the ideas of the lower level employees, communicate openly, stop promoting those you like and start promoting those who do higher level work
Pros
Training was effective and learned a lot in the first several months
Co-workers/peers had good "team" mentality and always willing to cover/help
Extremely casual work attire (shorts and sandals in summer!)
Cons
Pay was not commensurate with experience. After converting from contract to FT, salary offered was far less then hourly pay. Micro-managed by the immediate supervisors in regards to time, yet offered very little direction or guidance on daily duties. Often, they did not have answers. Many manager meetings where no one was available to the staff for several hours. Parent corp. seems to have given up on this division in favor of other new acquisitions. Leaving early was like pulling teeth. Expected to work extended hours on evenings and frowned on when leaving ON -TIME. Terrible work-life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to your employees when they need help. Offer up solutions and paths to success. Better feedback and recognize hard work and long hours. Understand that your staff has a family and life outside of work and may need to tend to those things.

I like the people I work with and people work hard.
Cons
The company has no direction. My direct report has changed 3 times in six months. I don't have goals or a performance review.

People need to be motivated at work and feel like they are part of the solution.

Very flexible with time off. So long as you give fair warning, complete your work and have someone to cover for you, time off, coming in late or leaving early is never a problem.
The employees are fun and nice, but some seem to think it is their job to point out every mistake you've ever made.
Cons
If you were not part of the team back when the company started, you have very little chance of moving up in the company.
Salary is pathetic compared to the national average.
Some managers say their door is always open, yet never want to hear anything you have to say. A few treat their employees like mushrooms.
The normal people make the fun place, the managers and salary make it frustrating.
Advice to Senior Management
Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
Don't tell someone that their idea is great, and then turn around and bash it.
Give credit where credit is due.
Praise people who do a good job publicly, provide criticism behind closed doors.
