Pros
People are young and work without pressure. Working hours is short. We have parties with free alcohols very often. Company has dojo for knowledge sharing.
Cons
Web traffic keeps going down and users are switched or switching to facebook. Mass layoff happened few times and everyone is sad about that.
Advice to Senior Management
The leaders do not give direction on where we go especially before and after the layoff. Nobody knows if it is safe to stay.
Pros
Free concerts and amazing health insurance
Cons
Not enough technological innovation nor having good user interface designers
Advice to Senior Management
Stop thinking of a year ahead. Look at five years ahead
Pros
Collaborative. Creative..Entrep eurial. Diverse. Location.
Cons
Lay offs. Not stable. Diminishing resources.
Pros
good corporate culture, interesting day to day challenges
Cons
highly susceptible to market changes
Advice to Senior Management
new ceo is excellent, other executives should follow suit. need execs who can anticipate what will happen in the market and be able to quickly adapt.
Pros
Great mid-level team eager to change things around
Cons
Incompetent, political management on ego trips
Advice to Senior Management
Learn about the industry in which you are operating.
Pros
Pay is pretty good and I like most of the people I work with directly but besides that its hard to think of too much else...
Cons
- Management is horrifyingly bad and is 1 clown short of a circus
- Working on the weekends and extra hours are expected (working throughout the night is not unheard of)
- Politics are 80% of the job
- Myspace is trying to be a colorful creative destination but the work environment and the way employees are treated is anything but that
- Big layoffs are looming and will hit early next year
- Prospects for the company's success are pretty much 0 (the trajectory of decline is scary)
- Newscorp is incredibly cheap on equipment - engineers cant even get modern computers
I would highly recommend staying away - if you get offered a nice salary, being there really is not worth it
Advice to Senior Management
The incompetence of management and Newscorp are to blame for the downfall of this place and everyone knows there is no getting out of this tailspin - its done.
Pros
They pay well at least until the next round of layoffs. Corporate bureaucracy is so messed up that you probably won't have to work very hard unless you just want to so you will have plenty of time to work on personal projects or look for a new job.
Cons
Very dysfunctional environment, it is hard to get anything done. Deployments are painful. News Corporation is a very paranoid organization so be prepared to be treated as untrustworthy by the corporate bureaucracy (although not by Myspace management specifically).
Pros
what will become of the space. talented, collaborative engineers. the pace is insane. there are great opportunities to learn and grow.
Cons
It can be a little chaotic at times. while the pace keeps things from getting boring, it can be exhausting.
Advice to Senior Management
take care of your people. listen to your talent. trust your engineers. continue focusing on the vision. and make sound business decisions.
Pros
Great colleagues, free lunch on certain days
Cons
Horrible management and low pay
Advice to Senior Management
Stop micromanaging and making everything a secret
Pros
Nice place to work.
Nice challenging tasks.
Flexible timings
Cons
Uninteresting Tools.
Not many cons.
Small network
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing. I am satisfied with the management.
