    Pros

Inspiring mission, compensation, can do attitude of the culture, good company to work for in a bad economy, location is great, low cost of living, good CEO

    Cons

More SVPs per square inch than an investment bank, some SVPs very weak and/or poor leadership models but persist, very poor communication, weak HR function, very political environment. Long work weeks, not sustainable.

    Advice to Management

Talent management is an area to look into and improve. Need to improve communication and transparency - VPs seem afraid to cascade information down, unclear why this is but should be fixed.

    Pros

pay and benefits package is very good

    Cons

This is a very antiquated 20th century management group, which lacks leadership skills, provides little or no direction or vision among managers and supervisors. Blind obedience is the daily order of the day.

    Advice to Management

Be more receptive and open to employee improvement suggestions, and stop encouraging employees to inform on one another. Encourage adult, rational interactions.

    Pros

Pay is above average and the benefits are unbeatable.

    Cons

Poor work/life balance, very difficult to get time off. Even on vacation, you are expected to work. Over 40 hours a week every week is the expectation and when you are not in the office, it is expected you are mobile connected and still working. Upper management would rather hire outside rather than promote from within.

    Advice to Management

Understand that not everybody wants to be married to the company.

I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Company has some excellent, dedicated employees who take pride in their efforts. For the majority of employees it is an excellent place to work. Benefits are very good, but the further you are away from senior management the better the opportunity is.

    Cons

Compensation is less than many comparables. Senior leadership has no concept of time - they put in long hours but much is wasted due to poor time management. The higher you ascend the better the pay, but senior leadership is "challenging" (there are other, less kind ways to say this). I would only recommend working here if you are not in a senior position. Or if you are a personal friend of the CEO.

    Advice to Management

Consider the concept of not micromanaging every effort of the senior employees who are assumably in place to make those decisions themselves. Learn time management. It will make you and everyone else more productive.

I worked at Mylan Inc as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady schedule other than the on-call weekends. Large company with a lot of job openings.

    Cons

Said job openings are extremely difficult to obtain. Pay is very low for IT staff. Jobs are constantly being moved and outsourced. On-call os global so don't expect to sleep. Management constantly changed expectations and procedures. Company uses controversial practices to avoid taxes and other unethical practices.

    Advice to Management

Be more consistent with procedure and metric expectations. Be more thorough with training new employees, and create more documentation that isn't just situational. Treat your employees with respect, not like they owe you for being able to work there.

    Pros

Great benefits and flexible when it comes to needing time off for things. Pay is above average and pharmacy is wonderful.

    Cons

Lay offs, Direction changing constantly, Shared Services and outsourced IT run do not seem to know what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Get a plan and determining consequences before executing. Get a organizational structure in place that makes sense.
