Pros
Good people to deal with.
Cons
Could not stay, as I had to move.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue working together.
Pros
Only pro was that job safety is relatively better than compared to most other companies I worked with.
Cons
Management is heavily biased and they make sure only their puppets succeed. Too much politics overall for anyone to have a good professional life. Overall it's a waste of a career, at one point, I felt I would be rather unemployed than work here.
Advice to Senior Management
There can be no advice given to this incompetent and heavily biased/politics playing management.
Pros
flexible schedule. able to work from home and decent pay for job of this nature in this area. Most supervisor decent
Cons
terrible upper management, way to fixated on numbers and stats to truly care about the customers they serve. profit is the only thing that matters
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to respect the people who work for you on a daily basis and run the front lines. Hire people so you dont have to work the ones you have to death
Pros
Work is great, Company line of business is good.
Cons
but not so great about the people who you work for
Advice to Senior Management
Don't just bring in your friends into Management and ignore people who put their time in this company for promotions
Pros
You get to work from home and I did have 3 weeks of of paid training. The insurance benefits wasn't available when I first started working for them. That came about 6 months after I started working there. I had paid vacations and they offered massive overtime and also offered time and a half for working holidays. They also let you switch schedules if you were able to find someone to work for you. The best part was getting to make your own schedule, when I first started I worked late afternoon and evenings. After about 4 months they sent out emails for night shift. Every 6 months I had a review and was given a raise.
The best thing about working for N.E.W. was the project that I was on.
I had satellite service for 2 TVs with DVR, and everything that the satellite company offered for $25.00 a month, ( I miss that the most!) and the fact that if you had system issues with thier applications, I still got paid. I started out at $9.00 and hr and was there for 13 months and was making $9.69. Also I made 10 new friends that I still keep up with!
Cons
When I first started out the support was awesome, but after 2 months you're pretty much on your own as far as getting help from your supervisor. It's sad when you ask a supervisor a question and don't know the answer and they have been there for 6 years. My biggest complaint was the fact that I had 7 supervisors in 13 months and only 2 of them were awesome! I don't know how the other 5 even made it as a supervisor.
Also you had to have a land line with no features, I had a roommate so I had to have my own line.
The longer I worked there the more stressful it was. When I first started, I was told that the job was for tech support only, then they added billing, then they added selling. The training for these extras was sparse at best, they had us doing more but they weren't paying us for the extra work. Also when they gave you feedback it was always about what you didn't do right instead of the good things that you did. Even when a customer asked to speak to a supervisor to give you kudos, it was never acknowledged. Out of the 10 new friends that I made, only 2 still work there. I worked there from 2/19/07-3/26/08
Advice to Senior Management
Train your supervisor's better! Teach your supervisor's good customer service skills so that they can help those employess under them! They need to learn that just because they are having a bad day not to take it on on the employees under them. Also if an employee asks them a question and they don't know the answer, then at least direct the employee to the right department to get the answer instead of ignoring them or telling them to go look it up, if I could have found the answer then I wouldn't have asked for help!
If your employees were treated with respesct and trained well,. Then you would not have such a high turn-over . What NEW doesn't offer but should: . In-depth knowledge of the program

Cons
The STRESS! Lots of it! I gained 10 lbs in th 4 months I worked there. They only tell you when you have done something wrong. Never when you have done something right! Low wages, 9.00 @ hour
Advice to Senior Management
Better training and higher wages!
Pros
The environment is very team oriented. They have incentives such as bringing in food for the employees. It is a consistent full time job. You have the option to choose your schedule. You can choose to work as many hours of overtime as you want as long as it is withing the timeframes offered. They promote within the company and rarely hire outside their interim pools. They are open for suggestions.
Cons
Constant change. Extra workload being added to already full schedule. Poor salary (the hourly employees make more than the salaried employee when you compare the hours a salaried person has to put in in order to complete the tasks assigned). As a supervisor, you have to try and fit a 50-60 hour work week into a 40 hour work week. Your performance determines the amount of pay increase you can receive and does not factor in expierience or training. The agent to supervisor ratio is 17-20 agents to one supervisor.
Advice to Senior Management
Research average salaries for the general region and adjust accordingly. The average supervisor at NEW in Oregon makes $10,000 less than the national average for a Call Center Supervisor position.
Pros
The company is fairly stable and was able to post earnings in the last few quarters in spite of the recent economic setbacks.
Cons
Low pay. Promotions go to individuals that the management teams are close to outside of work instead of those more aptly suited for the positions.
Advice to Senior Management
To Scrutinize middle management a bit more thoroughly.
