    Pros

Gets interesting when someone needs a non-traditional solution to a problem. For example, today I helped a landscaper plug some nozzles on a salt sprayer. Tried rubber caps, didn't fit. went thru a few ideas til we went to the brass fitting section. Used 1/4" NPT plugs that fit like they were made for it. Problem solved, customer satisfied.

    Cons

Mostly corporate drudgery. Also, stores in my region are run on bare minimum of staff. Burn out is common. They're also seem to not trust technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace technology. Stop treating employees like fuses.

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I had the best customers in the world. They were not only customers they became like family. My counterparts were also friends.

    Cons

Motivation by intimidation. Management of DC treats you like they own you. Constant brow beating, they have no plan, no professionalism at all. They use professional sales people to move stores and build shelves as if they are temp labor. If the upper management like Mr.Gallagher knew how they did things he'd clean house.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to middle managers and jobbers to find the truth. The ladder climbers that use and abuse people are running the talent to other companies.

    Pros

None that I can think of!!!

    Cons

Pay and retirement are something else

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

After 32+ years I find out that my pension plan is less monthly than people that worked fewer years with the company, This was because I myself were younger than others that had less time with the company. I was raised to think that if you worked for a company most of your life than you would have a good retirement. Well not with these folks I will never be able to retire on less than $600 a month!!!

    Pros

great co workers, good demanding workplace

    Cons

distant management, will act like you should in store policies day one. Higher ups show a great deal of "butt kissing" to make certain people happy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No favouritism treat people equal, dont blame others for your mistakes

I worked at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people are wonderful. It's like extended family

    Cons

Very hard to get training approved. Also new hires are being brought in at 10 to 20 thousand a year more than employees who have been with the company 5+ years with 15 years experience in their fields.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good people to work with will only balance out low pay for so long ... Soon all the experience will leave and you'll be left with highly paid employees with very little practical experience

I have been working at NAPA Auto Parts full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Napa has outstanding benefits 5 day work week off weekends you are basically your own boss have nothing bad to say about them

    Cons

working 10 to 12 hours per shift salary basis is tough for a family man with children or a person who wishes to spend time with this family

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

at this time would be nice if persons or person would take consideration for input from drivers in the field hands on about issues and or projects that could benefit better work environment for everybody involved customers, personnel, employees, management.
