ProsGood work environment and fast paced. Good salary and very goo support system.

ConsThere are not enough growth opportunities available. Advancement is based on sales and in a down market times your pay and opportunities are none existent.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement was great and very personable.

    Decent Place To Work

    Stockroom Associate (Current Employee)
    Coppell, TX

Pros1. Good starting pay, raises every few months
    2. Good benefits (401K, part purchase program, vacation, etc. after 90 days)
    3. Coworkers

Cons1. Management is sloppy about most things
    2. You cap out pay pretty fast so not much incentive to stay after that
    3. High turnover rate
    4. Nearly impossible to rise through the company from the bottom

Advice to Senior Management1. Listen to your workers about problems around the warehouse instead of just coming up with garbage solutions that just looks good on paper behind closed doors
    2. For god's sake, let people on the dock move around like you let the rest of the warehouse do

    Overall good company

    Account Sales Manager (Former Employee)
    Columbus, OH

ProsThe company is very stable, the pay and benefits are good, many employee perks. Lots of opportunities to promoted from within for employees with drive.

ConsNot much work/life balance due to huge workload on employees and required overtime, management tends to play favorites with certain employees, especially those with seniority. Company is definitely an "old boys club" and doesn't look to be changing in the near future.

    It is OK.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFlexible schedule, nice people to work with. Open seven days a week so is good for people going to school.

ConsToo much goofing off. Managers never seem to do anything but have meetings. No effective leadership.

Have figured out how to eliminate older employees with cheaper, younger employees.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsName recognition, but that is eroding fast as competition eats away at NAPA's bread and butter, wholesale markets.

ConsSlow to respond to competition, IT is a mess, one person in charge of a major segment of IT has no IT experience but is a friend of an important executive. Running joke is a NAPA half day is 12 hours. They now hire younger employees with different titles, have the older employees show them their tasks, then eliminate the older employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter start spending like your competition. Their new stores are popping up everywhere - where are yours?

    Freedom

Parts Sales and Delivery (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsPart Time hours are great. My Store manager works with my busy schedule to make sure that I hit at least 80 hours bi-weekly. I've been working for Napa for a year and I'm at $11.00 An hour and still climbing. Its a fairly easy job. Driving/Stocking and occasionally working the register. I am now being considered to be moved to the front counter. I've worked at O'Reilly's before i can honestly say that most of the managers are lazy and don't really care about the employees and that they are always getting shafted because corporate couldn't make a smart decision to save their lives.

ConsNot enough hours. When they cap my overtime I feel lost. Its capped so easily and when Friday rolls around I have no idea what to do for the next three days.

    Stable environment and great benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Norcross, GA

ProsThe employees keep a positive attitude which is nice in a support environment. The benefits are top notch and they are very good about the family/work life balance. The managers encourage teamwork and most everyone is willing to go the extra step to help another co-worker.

ConsThere are not a lot of growth opportunities on the Corporate side. What used to be a customer oriented support center has now become a numbers based call center.
