    Pros

I had great work life balance and I liked all the people I worked with. If you love science it is a great environment.

    Cons

There are a lot of top down decisions that just end up being things that we now have to deal with. Most are minor inconveniences but some can be actual problems.

    Advice to Management

Overall it was a good environment.

NASA offers an un-paralleled experience for "out of this world" projects, but politics & red tape can crush innovation.

    Pros

Ability to work on projects that do not exist anywhere else: Hubble Space Telescope, International Space Station, and so on. Research is cutting edge, redefining the boundaries of science and rewriting textbooks with discoveries we make in Earth Science, Global Climate Change, Nanotechnology, Electronics Research, Planetary Science, and much more. As a new hire you could have the opportunity to do very significant contributions and there are tracks to jump into a very important position at a very early age if you prove yourself competent and responsible.

    Cons

There are some really innovative ambitious people, but there still is a lot of dead-weight of those who just come into work and do the bare minimum, but do not really contribute to NASA as a organization moving forward.

    Advice to Management

Communication has slightly improved in recent years, but still has a long way to go to be more open and more inclusive with staff. Fight that red tape and refuse to be reactionary. Be wary of the "unintended consequences" of fixing your employees problems with a big hammer.

    Pros

    Friendly and informal environment
The people are willing to share knowledge and experiences
Opportunity to work with very smart and high skilled people
    Flexible work journey

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy to get the work done. Sometimes we need to buy some parts and they may took a lot to arrive, delaying the project. Furthermore, there are a lot of bureaucracy to certificate some projects.

  7. The research work done at Goddard is challenging, yet very stasifying.

    Pros

The people working there are extremely friendly and very dedicated to their work. The geographic location is amazing, set in a rustic environment. The benefits are also excellent when compared to a similar job.

    Cons

Salary isn't as competitive as similar jobs in the industry. Funding is very limited and can be a limiting factor on your research.

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to your employees (although you already are quite nice). Remember that everyone is there because they want to be there.

    Pros

Challenging work, good people. The projects are fun and there are good opportunities for career growth. Very good benefits for employees

    Cons

Promotions are more based off of seniority rather than work performance. It is difficult to transfer knowledge to other industries.

    Advice to Management

Try and engage lower level employees more so that they can understand the impact they make on the projects or the agency.

    Pros

Great environment; friendly people; balanced work personal life.

    Cons

Pay is low, but I can't judge fairly, since it's a postdoc position. No dental or vision plan.

    Advice to Management

    no comment.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - Cool projects related to space, technology, engineering
    - Relaxed environment, diversity, collaboration
    - Offices
    - "Brand" Name
    - Plenty of internship programs
    - Many locations (awesome campuses)

    Cons

The main issue with NASA is it has lost its aura of the 60's or 70's... after we got to the moon, the only cool thing is the Hubble Telescope...

    - somethings are old and underfunded
    - government level pay

    Advice to Management

Recruit TOP talent with GOOD pay. NASA is a young, hungry, scientist and engineers to rejuvenate the "company" and explore space again!
