    Pros

Opportunity to learn new things, move within the Agency, work-life balance.

    Cons

Too much red tape, standing army workforce waiting to retire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline, adapt, forget about past core competencies and change for the future of the Agency that doesn't need NASA oversight for commercial companies to thrive.

    Pros

People are extremely nice. A public sector job means low worry and stress, but not to the point if disrespectfully easy. You see immediate outcomes from you actions and projects, which can be rewarding. There is not one person who isn't passionate about working here and doing what they love. From what I hear through conversations between full-time employees, layoffs are not even a concern. There is no negativity in terms of attitudes.

    Cons

Reality of budget cuts. Entry level hires expect to be paid <40k here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unless management can get engineers being paid 90K starting here, not much need for advice. Management in my experience was very open to communication and understanding on a personal level.

    Pros

Its provides a great work environment, the people love their job, and everyone seems to have a thirst for knowledge. Also provides a lot of exposure to different types of research.

    Cons

While I can't provide many cons I will state that adjusting to the workplace isn't always simple and easy, sometimes you are thrown right in. Yet again the different personalities makes the transition a whole lost easier.

    Pros

Great place to work. Environment conducive to creative thinking. Treated with respect. Accomplishments well recognized.

    Cons

Government regulations. Current down-sizing of NASA has taken this off the table as a viable option currently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get funding.

    Pros

The work is often exciting and you have a wide variety of superiors with whom to get involved. Management is very competent and dedicated to the NASA cause. There is a great deal of excitement when projects are successful and the esprit de corps is often very good among most employees.

    Cons

The office dynamic wasn't always strong; certain inadequacies were tolerated beyond what should have been. Budget cuts made it difficult to plan for the future. Differences between employees were left to simmer instead of headed off by management.

    Cons

    Pros

Will have a low pressure work environment where team work is a major virtue and everyone is working toward the same goal. Plenty of support at all levels to help you succeed.

    Cons

Pay lower than some private sector positions. Some days will be slower than others. Where there is no profit driver, some dullards will survive performance reviews and be a bore to work with.
