    Cons

Computer Technology is behind the current best standards in computers/ IT, but they do amazing things with what they have.

    Pros

Great work and great management team. You can work hard and advance to your goals.

    Cons

This job is what you make of it. If you are a slacker, and depending on your manager, you may get by on this job without doing much.

    Pros

Steady pay, good overall benefits, friendly people and laid-back atmosphere. For the most part, you'll never work more than 40 hours in a week. Great work-life balance.

    Cons

The bureaucracy you find in working for government organizations is quite omnipresent. If you want to enjoy the comfort of working for a big company, this place is for you. If you're an out-of-the-box thinker, you might find it frustrating to work here. A lot of things come down to politics, which is something you'll have to get used to. The education reimbursement programs - which were once very good and among the best in the country - have completely diminished. At Kennedy Space Center, the food is absolutely terrible. When I last worked there, there were 3 Subway restaurants on center, with very few other options. Since Kennedy Space Center is fairly remote, off-campus options are quite far and would take 15-20 minutes to get to.

    Advice to Management

It might be time to pass down the torch to the younger generation. NASA is full of very experienced people who are on the brink of retirement, and the knowledge transfer is very weak.

    Pros

Feel like you are part of something bigger that isn't purely profit driven Interesting work depending on where you are Space is cool Government benefits are good

    Cons

Government work can be very tedious with lots of hoops to jump through Frustrating that significant program decisions are made from politics and outsiders rather than the people actually working on the program

    Advice to Management

Convince Congress to not meddle so much and stop wasting money on jobs programs

    Pros

The technical side of NASA is good, with highly intelligent engineers and scientists.

    Cons

The administrative side is lacking in quality leaders, managers and workers.

    Advice to Management

Closer oversight of administrative functions. Have them report to a technical lead.
