I worked at NASCAR full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits are great: medical, dental, vision, etc. PTO is relatively good. Free cell phone and plan is also nice.

    Cons

Women, especially young women, are not promoted as quickly as men and not compensated as well as men.

I have been working at NASCAR full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Working inside NASCAR provides hands-on opportunities and access to create new ways for fans to connect with the sport. The company understands what it takes to pull off events for 10-11 months a year and trains employees by doing with comparable compensation to other related industries.

    Cons

Long hours and constant action allow for little down time. The tonnage of events and content around those events doesn't allow a lot of time for planning and often requires execution on the fly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Possibly rotating employees through other departments and definitely staffing up to allow employees to feel they have the support they need to take time off should be considered. While being lean is understandable, it stretches employees too thin and doesn't allow for as much out-of-the-box thinking as it could.

I worked at NASCAR as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Rich company culture with a great family feel. Had excellent opportunities to learn and grow. Offered challenges and real projects instead of the stereotypical intern busy work.

    Cons

Some upper management could be pretty stiff, but for the most part, I found excellent mentors that helped me grow professionally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thanks for investing so much time and effort into the internship program!

I have been working at NASCAR full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

NASCAR execs are willing to promote from within and reward hard work. Benefits are great and people really care.

    Cons

There can be a lot of travel making it difficult to set boundaries. The culture, as everywhere, is if you have a cell phone, you are available. But again, that makes boundary setting less than ideal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More time off during the week, please when I travel on weekends. And 3 weeks vacation is great, but for those of us with a long track record, more time off would be wonderful.
