    Best Internship Ever!!!

    News Intern (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsIt is very hands-on and you get the opportunity to do almost everything! The people I worked with were very nice and encouraging.

ConsI don't have any cons that I feel I need to discuss, except that this internship requires the intern to really think outside the box and be quick on their foot and with thoughts and ideas.

Great company to be a part of

    Marketing Intern (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsAt NBCUniversal there's always room to grow and expand and network, which is a big plus. Even though it is a large company there is a sense of community and family. The company offers great perks and treat employees well.

ConsIts a big company - easy to feel lost in if you don't network appropriately and reach out. As an intern especially, you have to work hard to make yourself seen and heard, and to prove your value.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember the little guys!

    Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsIn NBCUniversal, we have a team of 17 people, friendly and willing to help each other, relax and comfort work environment.

ConsSince the web system we worked on is a system been worked on for quite a long time, many other people had worked on and left the company, not easy to maintain.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet all the team member participate on the project development start from the design phase.

    Internship

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsYou get to see how NBC works. You can kind of do whatever you want. You create your own projects.

ConsThey basically took on a million interns without actually having anything for us to do. There was a lot of idle time because we weren't really needed and there were so many of us.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave employees fill go through a process for obtaining interns that includes what their projects will be.

    Far reaching cable network

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsWith several network brands under one umbrella there is a lot of opportunity to move around. Great benefits. Pressure to perform is not wrapped up in an overly-intense and chaotic environment.

ConsPay is on the lower end of the spectrum. With most large corporations, politics and playing the game are more important than quality of content.

Advice to Senior ManagementProtect the people under you and let them take risks. Without risk there is no quality.

Decent Work/ Life Balance... No place to move.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsI was lucky to make some amazing connections and life long friends while working at NBC Universal. There's a pretty decent work life balance. Everyone works hard and can take part in the perks; theme parks, benefits, movie screenings & sports tickets.

ConsThough the company is growing as a whole, my department was stagnant and everyone seemed complacent. Everyone has to "pay their dues" but when you're due the company might not be ready for you, delaying your ability to grow. You'll need to use connections to learn what is available at other networks.
    Overall, a traditional corporate environment.
Entry Level positions are payed low.
    Low raises.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management, be fair to all of your employees and recognize talent when you see it. Respect each person as their own individual because we're clearly not all the same.
