    Pros

Like any large corporation that operates simultaneously different businesses, employee experiences will vary greatly, but NBCUniversal manages to weave the culture together at the high level. After the Comcast acquisition, it has slowly turned into a forward-thinking organization encouraging creative ideas from its staff. Leadership from upper management is frequently visible and positive.

    Cons

Wage stagnation can be a big issue here. There is no set salary range for jobs so departments can assign whatever they want for their staff and salary fluctuations increase the higher up you go. New hires tend to get paid significantly higher than those who have been here longer while performing the same job. However, there is plenty of opportunities here to make up for lost salary growth. Do not get complacent performing the same job for over five years because that is when your salary will start to lag.

    Advice to Management

Routinely review staff salary at all levels to ensure it is within fair range so that no one person makes unusually more than their peers. Value loyalty and work experience for those who have been with the company for a long time.

    Pros

good work life balance, excellent benefits, relaxed atmosphere, there's always something going on the lot like TV and movie filming

    Cons

Very political, a lot of people in management who do not have the skills to manage, mentor and motivate people

    Advice to Management

Equip your managers with the skill to be good managers. Send them to management training.

    Pros

Great people to work with, great environment, happy with pay rate and benefits, opportunity to move up in company.

    Cons

Some are losing jobs due to restructuring (including me), but there are plenty of open positions available as well.

    Pros

Management made me an integral part of the team; I was allowed to sit in on most meetings and conference calls, some of which directors were excluded from. Boss (SVP) was always receptive to my comments and questions, and the tasks handed to me were very rarely "intern typical".

HR hosted numerous networking events and skill building activities.

    Cons

Commuting to the valley was not ideal, and though $10/hr is above minimum wage, it's not much living in the LA area.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

    Pros

Good teams, innovative brands and products, Focus on diversity is a key priority and has strong properties as a whole (theme parks and cable TV propping up network TV and films).

    Cons

Highly vertical, change is slow, huge degree of office politicking and backstabbing which leads to a great deal of turnover and constant fighting for promotions.

    Advice to Management

Enter the company tentatively and know who are your friends and enemies. Assisting friends will help you rise together while purging enemies from the office is a common practice, should you get enough clout.

    Pros

Lots of work to be done with smart people across many departments that can potentially impact the entire company.

    Cons

Long hours, LOTS of politics, toll-gate/red-tape processes to get anything approved / work done. Wages are mediocre at best. Lots of leadership is in place due to attrition - not the best, most intelligent, well-equipped people in management due to this factor.

    Advice to Management

End the catering to exec-interns (1yr interns given management positions without work experience) and ensure that failures are acknowledged, documented, and learned from, so that future projects can be successful.

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits, good amount of vacation/sick days. Everyone has a good attitude and is allowed a good level of autonomy when it comes to getting their work done.

    Cons

Traffic could be a slog, but honestly, that was it for me.

    Advice to Management

You treat your employees well! Keep it up!
