    I worked at NBCUniversal

    Pros

I have worked for other entertainment studios in the past, this one was by far the best. It is a large company, which makes you feel like you're part of something big, but there are so many different projects going on and so many jobs being done that you can really focus on the little things. The back lot is a lot of fun too.

    Cons

Since it is a big studio, getting around is sometimes difficult. You better get a golf cart!

I have been working at NBCUniversal

    Pros

Summer hours, pay, folks are generally great

    Cons

Sooo top heavy. 1 VP will have 1 or 2 employees. And in some divisions, there are almost more VP then workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some real HR folks in there that can break this beast up

I have been working at NBCUniversal as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The internship program here at NBCU is absolutely phenomenal. I consider myself lucky every single day that I come into work because of the unprecedented exposure to people and information, the warm company culture that I feel a part of (even as just an intern), the unparalleled networking opportunities with fellow interns and higher up employees, the resourcefulness of Campus 2 Career who make it their mission to make the internship program an enjoyable one, and the added on benefits of discount tickets, studio tours, panels/seminars, and more. I would recommend an internship at NBCU to any and all college students who are passionate about the industry.

    Cons

I wish it were possible to intern more than just 2 or 3 days a week, but that's ultimately the way it needs to be in order for each department to have - at least - 2 interns.

    Pros

Great place for advancement and very supportive business groups. Opportunities to work outside of your normal day to day on volunteer projects as well

    Cons

No cons, again, great place to work. People are smart, driven, and believe in the company. In recent years a lot of smart decisions have been made that have provided rapid growth and the #1 network on TV.

I worked at NBCUniversal full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

A company that still must deal with union negotiations, protecting the employee from total abuse.

    Cons

With all the hype on quality of programing and content none of the programs can achieve true quality with out the talents of men and women who help to produce the products for air. Technology has dummed up the process in achieving a product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While trying to save or generate optimum revenue and share holder profits keep in mind what can happen when all technology fails and true experienced personnel responds with rapid solutions in a crisis situation.

I worked at NBCUniversal as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

This was one of my first internships during college. My boss was really laid back, welcoming & gave me a lot of responsibility which was awesome.

    Cons

I didn't meet a lot of people outside of my department. We kept to ourselves in our immediate one.

    Pros

Well established in the industry, great upper management working on improving the old school mentality. Great opportunity to move skills between different business units due to the structure of the company.

    Cons

Old management was set on their ways too much. Looks like the new team is working on changing that for the better.

I worked at NBCUniversal part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I loved being able to go to USH whenever I wanted and I loved the access to events and the different programs offered for health and wellness.

    Cons

The scheduling was so annoying. They hired so many people so often that other employees got hours cut. The wage is terrible. With Universal being such a moneymaker, they could afford to pay their people a living wage. Happy staff, happy customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't play favorites. Most of my managers were really attentive and helpful but depending on who was working at the time, sometimes I felt my needs weren't met as others were.

    Pros

You do get to meet a lot of important people in the industry.

    Cons

You don't get enough time to speak with them to actually build a relationships. The tasks given to you are mundane and there's no room for promotion.
