Current Employee – been working at NBCUniversal as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Very organized internship program with lots of teaching programs and perks. Also a paid position.
Cons – There are so many interns that competition is high for a full time job after
Advice to Senior Management – Make sure all internship positions have the right amount of work. Right now some have too much and others too little

Former Employee – worked at NBCUniversal as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Big, known brand - good to brag!
Great opportunities for people who're already IN the company. Lots of professional development, references and exciting activities to participate.
Cons – Everybody just stared at the computer. Everyone seemed always busy. No one really talked, except in meetings and appointments. It seemed as if no one cared to see what's going on around them. A sense of awkwardness and a feeling of being lost!
Dealt with some arrogant HR people, stuck with tons of documentation and old ways of handling things!
Advice to Senior Management – Help the team loosen up, and break the silos!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at NBCUniversal full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Interesting, cutting edge work. Coworkers are generally smart, balanced, good people.
Cons – HR is a mess, and increased compensation and advancement opportunities are neither transparent nor fairly allocated. Lateral moves are greeted with salary freezes and demotions in title.
Advice to Senior Management – Transparent salaries, better compensation.

Former Employee – worked at NBCUniversal as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – They take care of everything from transportation to meals, etc. Extra work is fun and pays pretty well: about $100 for the day. Working with Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey was great. The supervisors were polite for a change. It was a long day: about twelve hours, but it went fast. There was plenty to eat and drink, and there were SAG-only tables where you could hang out and shoot the breeze.
Cons – The frequency of being called for work is up and down. You can get three jobs in a row within a month, or not get called for a few months.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
