I worked at NBCUniversal as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

It was a lot of fun to be an NBC intern. The internship program is very structured and they spend a lot of time making sure you get the most out of your summer experience with them. You get the opportunity to hear many important people speak about a wide range of topics and you get a chance to be a part of a venerable institution. They really value their interns, unlike many companies. Also a great place to have a connection with for after graduation - there are always new openings throughout the company.

    Cons

Their policy is that interns can only work 2.5 days a week, so if you're hoping for a full-time position for the summer, this won't be it.

    I worked at NBCUniversal

    Pros

Management made me an integral part of the team; I was allowed to sit in on most meetings and conference calls, some of which directors were excluded from. Boss (SVP) was always receptive to my comments and questions, and the tasks handed to me were very rarely "intern typical".

HR hosted numerous networking events and skill building activities.

    Cons

Commuting to the valley was not ideal, and though $10/hr is above minimum wage, it's not much living in the LA area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Tremendous facilities
    - Good matching 401k option
    - Interesting and fulfilling work
-Most employees seem to enjoy what they do.
-Fun atmosphere, at any given time people could be tossing a football across the studio or be entrenched in an intense game of ping-pong.
-The best of the best work here. Everyone is very good at their job.
-Entry-level PAs are paid hourly meaning during the particularly busy parts of the year you get those OT hours.
-Promotion from within is commonplace and NBCU is such a massive company that movement is very possible.

    Cons

-Pay is OK by industry standards but still not anything great.
-Hours are outlandish. Expect nights and weekends.
-Hourly employees DO NOT get paid time off. No sick days, no vacation days. This is my main gripe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some paid time off, even if it's just a few days a year for emergencies or sick days would go a long way in feeling appreciated and cared for by the company.
